Homie Cheryl Hellcat uploaded this awesome table collage to our Flickr pool and my face did this. How freaking awesome is this nerd-tastic DIY table? Here’s how she explained the origin of this muy unconventional table:

My Grandpa turned this cable reel into a side table around 30-40 years ago. It needed some sprucing up so I gave it paint job.

Do you recognize that paint job? Yes nerds, it’s the White Tree of Gondor. This is the Return of the King of side tables!

    One word of caution for anyone picking up a cable reel off the side of the road. My parents made a table (not beautiful and finished like this one, but rough and tumble off the side of the road) out of a cable reel. A few months later, the spider eggs that had been inside of the spool hatched and infested their apartment. I’m super glad I wasn’t born then…
