Kitsch-stuffed and happy mix-matched island-color home #Homes & Tours#colorful#kitsch#retro/vintage December 27 | Cat Rocketship Welcome to the happy cottage of Flickr user devotedsatellite! She didn't have time to give us a tour herself, but I couldn't let this house go unnoticed. Luckily, it's jam-packed with cool stuff to look at, and the photos mostly speak for themselves. Devotedsatellite learned the hard way this year that sweet potato plants WILL take over your front lawn. I've been fantasizing over front doors lately, and everything about this one is a beaut. Would buy immediately. Color blocked, Mondrian-style, Skittles-paletted mid-century home decor I am losing my shit over this impeccably restored period home in Denver, Colorado. Not only is the home a mid-century modern dream, but it's... [more] Come on inside! Reclaimed wood coffee table? A SIX sided couch? And is that a hanging chair I see? Of course it is. Consider my home envy officially ignited. Doesn't her living room look like a set for Arsenic and Old Lace? Oh, for the built-in cabinets that were chic in the '20s to come back into vogue! I need a place to store my harp! Awesome painting. AWESOME bull! Devotedsatellite calls this the "music and western room." Awesome. It's got a load of handmade STUFF, made in… …Devotedsatellite's sewing room! It's like an elegant ladies' dressing area, but for making things. Paintings, a purse collection, fabric remnants. Lots of storage. I think this is my favorite photo of her house. Let's jaunt to the kitchen, shall we? On our way, we'll pop our head into the bedroom… And admire the incredible handiwork of that gnarly duvet. It seems to match the entirety of the house! Okay. To the kitchen! Devotedsatellite also has an ample garden — but get a load of that red tile on her counter top! This is really the pièce de résistance: Devotedsatellite's 1950 tappan deluxe vintage stove, which she bought used (clearly) and uses. WHAT. WHAT IS THIS. HOW DO I GET ONE IN MY HOUSE. My eyes need a break. You guys have the bridge. Reporter Name * Reporter Email * Original text Enter the original text here. Edited text* Enter your suggested copyedit here. Love how bold and cheerful this home is! 5 agree Reply The brights give it an energetically cozy feel! Like you could just plop you and your craft pile anywhere, work away and then take a nap when the cat insists by laying on top of said craft pile. We're painting our front door in Behr's Volcanic Blast orange while the house is still beige, so this door is AMAZING to me!!! 0 agree Reply The colors are beautiful! And I want a hanging chair for my studio chill-out corner now! 1 agrees Reply With all the colours, this is pretty much my dream home. I really, really want to know how to make that invisible book shelf, the one above the red bull! 0 agree Reply Its actually in the archives somewhere. 0 agree Reply There are instructions here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Invisible-Book-Shelf/ You can also buy them – they're very inexpensive. Some friends of mine have a couple in their living room, and they look excellent. Umbra makes them in a few different colors. 1 agrees Reply This house is a dream! 0 agree Reply I really like everything about this house. Every southern child has a memory of sitting on a stool exactly like that in their grandparents' house, shucking corn/snapping beans/peeling potatoes. 1 agrees Reply Not just southern children! My husband's family had one in their home growing up as well (they're from Manitoba and Northern Ontario).
