Draw on your tablecloth again and again

More like BRILLIANT idea of the day! The reusable doodle-able washable table cloth. Fun for dinner parties, kiddos, and, most importantly: FUN TIMES FOR TABLE TOP GAMING.

Save food from the fridge

Not that long ago, humans knew what to do to lengthen the shelf lives of our produce, but now? Everything kinda gets tossed in the fridge. (Admit it: you’ve refrigerated onions before. Uh-huh. I know it!) Is there a better way we could store food?

Meet my new creepy/cute kitchen art from Cuddly Rigor Mortis

Thanks to a blog called Super Punch, a few weeks ago I stumbled across the adorably creepy art from Cuddly Rigor Mortis. The above print (called “L’amour Or Less”) is now hanging to the right of our stove, its cock-eyed little lovers tempting me with their delicious-looking little heads.

Cuddly Rigor Mortis’ online shop is filled with adorably off-kilter food-related prints that feel like the perfect pop-art for kitchens…

A photo guide on reupholstering metal-framed chairs

I redid our uggo old taupe dining room chairs, and found it surprisingly easy. It only took a few materials, and using new padding, a staple gun, and jersey knit fabric, I have totally like-new chairs!

Pi-inspired kitchen backsplash

The way I see it, there are three ways to celebrate Pi Day: with math, with pie, and with pizza pie. I don’t need any more convincing: let’s do Pi Day! I’ve got kitchen tools, a nerdy clock, and the best math-related tiling work you’ve seen.

Making coffee with butter and eggs: an old-world way to spice up caffeine consumption

I quit my coffeemaker already. I use one of those single-serving strainers. Which makes my coffee dark and sludgey and thick and yummmm.

But today I made it more yum: out of creamer AND condensed milk, too lazy to dig for sugar in the back of the pantry, I spied a stick of butter on the counter and remembered someone emphatically telling me that butter + coffee = true love forever.

I want this mustached juice machine man

He is genius. Pop him in a fat orange, turn the handle (to rip up the fruit’s precious guts…it’s hard for me to stop anthropomorphizing) and sip!

Mmmmmm, orange guts!

Stop using plastic baggies: replace them with this homemade reusable fabric alternative

Like a good enviro-conscious Seattleite, I've been trying to reduce my usage of plastics and non-compostables. I realized the majority of plastic baggies we use are to hold dry snacks, and it seems like an awful waste to keep buying them, using them, and throwing them away. My friend stumbled upon some fabric reusable pouches on the internet, and per usual, I decided to try my hand at making a few!
