Throw this “spooky food” party!

If you recall the Eating the Dinosaur party post, every couple of months, I host a “book optional club.” It felt too much like a reading assignment for most people to read a book by a designated time and then actually talk about it. So… the book part became optional.

Every October, I host a “spooky food book optional club.” You don’t have to read anything for that, either. However, I get my OCD hostess urges out of my system and inflict, er, treat my friends to some unusual recipes.

So far, everyone has survived these spooky treats…

Speaking of candy eyes…. Monster Eyes: You can color them in with food pens. Also, a more budget-friendly alternative, is candy buttons.

Chocolate sugar skulls: The nice people who make Wilton's Candy Melts, have a product in a tube. You just heat the tube up and the melted candy comes out. How nice to not get burned!

Walnut Brains: Get the large walnut halves (they cost more) and dip them in melted chocolate. I just got the Wiltons pink candy (not quite chocolate) and went to town.

I saw a decorating idea where you get a tiny pumpkin, carve out space for vampire teeth, and use pins for eyes. It worked!
