Practice gratefulness today — for your home and all its flaws

Guest post by Mariegael

I moved to Isaan, the farmlands of Thailand, four months ago. Our home is safe. I am very thankful. However, a third of Thailand is underwater, over 300 people have died, and the waters are still rising.

So today, instead of fixating on sheets that aren’t quite the right shade, I focus on having a dry place to sleep.

Home is transient

For a firsthand look, here is a video I made on our way back to our home in Isaan from Bangkok.

Stay safe.

  1. Let me just say….so sorry for the loss to the families around you. Glad to hear you & yours are safe. Your words touched me. I recently moved myself, have no TV or internet at the moment…your pics are the first I have seen of this. Warm wishes of safety to everyone there involved. ~ Faith

  2. Stay safe. I live near the Malaysian border, so we’ve been spared the flooding, but I have followed the news for the past month. It definitely puts things into perspective.
