This is my favorite moment in my home. And it’s a good thing, too, because it’s the very first thing you see when you walk in the door. It’s kind of a great combo of me and that guy I married. Aaron’s a musician who found this vintage Wurlitzer at a steal. Sitting on top of the piano are antique vases that my grandfather brought back from Hong Kong (I think) filled with fake cherry blossoms. Between those puppies is a wooden turtle box that we bought on our Maui honeymoon, and a candle that, when the light hits it right, reflects sparkles all over the room.
Of course, I can’t forget to point out the floating door! Aaron found this door at a garage sale. It just spent most of its life propped up against walls with no purpose, except to look cool, until we moved to a place with high ceilings. We like to pretend it’s a doorway to another dimension (a la Monsters Inc.).
If you have a special decor moment you want to share, add it to our Flickr pool, @ reply Offbeat Home on Pinterest, or send me an old fashioned email.
Thanks Megan! That made me really happy on the inside. I love a good door. They hold a lot of meaning for me for some reason. Yours is lovely!
Oh you are MORE than welcome. I love making people’s insides happy. 😉
