I turned a storage barrel into a magical wine table!

I’m becoming a bit of a recycling center junkie — my husband and I go for a “hot date” every week and come home with a bootload of “treasure.” These barrells are storage barrells used by a health food company to import bulk spirulina etc. and cost a whopping NZ$1 each. The paper I used also came from the center — about $2 for a huge carton of old maps, sheet music and atlases — decoupage heaven!

This family definitely knows how to bask in the sun and love each other

I oh-so-very much love family photo sessions that take place at parks and playgrounds, like this one from Natalie Champa Jennings Photography. It’s just like.. you want insta-kiddo smiles? Let them run around, swing, and be crazy!

Proof you can be nerdy, pregnant, artsy, and totally smokin’ in your maternity photos

Montomery, AL-based photographer Gina of The Element of Photograpy sent us this cute maternity session a few weeks ago, and I’ve been excited to share it with you guys ever since.

Books explaining tattoos, piercings, and other body modification

My husband and I both have tattoos, and our son is just used to them. He likes fake tattoos (he gives them to himself and us with markers, and he also likes the rub-on kind), and is amused by our body decoration, but doesn’t really seem to care either way. I’m sure at some point he’ll ask why some people have tattoos, piercings, and so on and others don’t, so it’s cool to know these books exist.

A pin-up and pregnant Rosie the Riveter-inspired maternity session

You know what’s awesome about this maternity series? It features a crafty pregnant mom who digs Rosie the Riveter and amazing hair decorations. DIG IN.

Get ready to swoon over a tattooed punk mama and her blue-haired offbeatling

Brittany’s Flickr stream contains more goodies than I can count: kids with pink and blue hair, infants with (fake) tattoos, and a whole lot more. I’ll say this: this ain’t your mama’s child and family photography, y’all.

Would you let your teen get a tattoo?

A friend recently posted a status on Facebook saying her four-year-old asked to get a tattoo for her birthday — and “not one that washes off in the bathtub.” Of course, the idea of a four-year-old getting a REAL tattoo is ludicrous (and probably illegal), but it had me wondering — what if that four-year-old was sixteen? Would it be ok then?

Two mamas, lots of tattoos, and a guitar

Good reads? Check. Super cute baby belly? You betcha. Two beautiful mamas happily awaiting their kiddo? YEP, it’s in here!
