The key to winning photos might be putting a mustache on your newborn

Megan recently shared this photo session that Denise of Boonie Sunshine Photography (she travels between Nashville, TN, and Kansas City, MO) shot session of two-week-old Maximilian. Megan’s husband and Denise are cousins, so the session was part of a baby shower gift. I don’t know about you, but this mustache is pretty much slaying me.

Why having your family photos shot near train tracks looks rad

I’m totally digging this session from Valdosta, Georgia-based photographer Jacquelynn Buck. This family of four (including a mama with purple hair) definitely knew how to rock their photo session.

Photos of a sunshine-filled pregnant-belly-decorating paintfest

They might just be one of the hottest families in the universe

I was going through the photos in the Flickr pool for next week’s Montage when BOOM: my eyes landed on this delightful little mini-feast of beauty and love. There are so many things to discuss: how the mom is so lively and has amazing dreads, how the three kidlets are so stylin’ I can’t handle it, and how the dad definitely has a mild Johnny Depp thing going on.

Post-apocalyptic zombie-slaying family portrait session

Jessica at Bakan Photography recently worked a whole lotta bloody magic when she shot this zombie-slaying-themed family session. We first heard about this shoot from a reader (thanks, Katie!) and then we got an email directly from the mama of the family, photographer Jennifer Owen.

Vintage throwback-style maternity photos

I totally swooned over this series of vintage-inspired maternity photos Erica sent. Her photographer, Arkansas-based Devin Kuhl of DK Photoshoot definitely has a few wonderful tricks up his sleeve!

Because few things are better than two dads in matching shirts holding matching babies

Alan and Brian have been married for years and have always dreamed of starting a family. They took matters into their own hands and found a surrogate in India. They were more than pleasantly surprised when they learned that she was pregnant with twins. The pair has recently returned to New York City from India with their son and daughter in tow — and now the family is complete.

I want to believe: it’s time for an alien abduction maternity shoot

When it comes to maternity photography, I really dig on sessions that leave you with fifty or so photos of magical baby-on-the-way splendor. Or… I thought I did, until I saw the three photos from this alien abduction maternity shoot produced by digital genius ND Photography.
