It’s on like… a Donkey Kong-themed birthday party!
With three young children that I adore making a fuss for, party planning has become one of my favorite things. I l-o-v-e a theme and finding ways to creatively interpret it. So when my own “not so little/little guy” approached me with his request to host a Donkey Kong-themed party, I was up to the challenge!
The baby who crashed his mama’s baby shower + a few glowy newborn snaps
Ladies and gents, meet Dexter. This dude was SO STOKED about being born that he decided to give life outside the womb a go five weeks early, and actually attended the baby shower planned for his mom!
Our gender neutral monster-themed baby shower
My husband and I knew that a traditional baby shower wouldn’t be for us, and we were thrilled when my mother-in-law offered to throw us a shower and asked what theme and colors we wanted. From home-made plush favors and invitations to cakes baked in jars we knew we were going to have the perfect monster mash bash to celebrate our own little monster!
A Super Mario Brothers-themed birthday party for a six-year-old
I am FREAKING OUT about this Mario-themed birthday party! The crew played games, ate piranha plant pops, and basically had my dream birthday party. Amazing.
Pushba’s son turns 1 with the most awesome birthday cake I’ve ever seen
Generally when you think of a kid’s birthday cake topper you probably imagine a number candle or some kind of toy the kid is into, right? Well… what about putting a baby on it?
A handmade rainbow-and-clover-themed birthday party for a one-year-old

A Very Hungry Caterpillar birthday party you can totally pull off
Oooh how I love the birthday party that Elle recently threw for her now one-year-old daughter, Penelope. The decor, food, and attire were inspired by Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and unlike a lot of birthdays you’ll see, this one is TOTALLY pull-offable. You basically need cardboard, yarn, paper streamers, and some fruit and you have a insta-caterpillar birthday success.
