ground your energy

5 ways to ground your energy

These days I am feeling less and less grounded, and I have to make a serious conscious effort to keep myself grounded.

sexy high waisted panties

Sexy high-waisted panties that cover your whole ass

Victoria secret keeps flashing in my facebook feed, and as much as I appreciate a hungry-looking butt feasting on thongs, that look is not for me. But I also want to look good in and like my underwear at the same time. Fruit of the Loom’s cheap enormous cotton panties (*though I love me some natural fibres) are not cutting it. Help? Be my magical undie-god-mothers?

geek pumpkin templates

Get scary nerdy with these geeky Jack-o-Lantern stencils!

While brainstorming ideas for our Halloween wedding, the first project my guy and I agreed on were these nerdy Jack-o-Lanterns. We wanted them to cover a broad range of our interests from comic books, to TV fandoms, and classic literature. In the spirit of love, we want you to steal this idea for your Halloween pumpkins! All of the templates we have are pre-sized and ready for you to print and carve.

learning to love my name

How I learned to love my weird name

My parents chose semi-unusual names for my brother and me, because they grew up with very common names. But when I was a kid all I wanted was to be like everyone else. Throughout my whole life I’ve received a variety of responses when I introduce myself. There are people who just say “What?” or “Huh?” and I need to repeat my name or explain it. A few years ago I started saying, “Daryl — like a dude.” Nowadays, I love my name.

what is home

What is “home” to you?

I’m in my 50s, and getting ready to move, again. As I look at new apartments, etc, I realized I am really looking for a place that feels like “home.” But… I am having trouble visualizing what I’m actually looking for. Do you know what “home” is for you?

adult with autism

Married, happy, autistic: My life as an adult with Autism

So much information about autism and the Autism Awareness Movement is geared toward young children. News flash: adults have autism, too. I’m one of them. “But you seem so ‘normal,’ and you’re married! You can’t have autism!” Exclamations like these always follow whenever I tell people that I’m autistic. It’s true: I probably don’t fit into your idea of what it means to be autistic — I’m married, I had a career before I was diagnosed with a bone disease that ended it — but it’s something that affects me every moment of every day.
