We all know my taste in home decor leans toward the bold and colorful, and that I love kawaii. I suppose it’s perfectly fitting then that this over-the-top adorabz video from Japan’s PonPonPon would make me start scheming a blue striped room and having my own special toy corner encrusted with My Little Ponies, rainbow tutus, enormous eye balls, pink brains, and other sparky things. In summary: this video is the nightmarish fever dream of a feng shui consultant. AND I LOVE IT.

Super kawaii! I love the blue striped wall with the pink curtains! That’s kind of the color scheme we did in the nursery. Now I wanna deck it out in all kinds of cute toys!
Yayyy! I love it! I’ll be watching this for the next two hours, thx.
Edit: Haaaa did you see the giant box of Kraft Mac & Cheese in the toy pile? Really. I love this. I needed something this weird today.
I must have that costume!
Also, I’d love to know how the art direction was pitched – that death-mask doughnut animation is great.
This is freakin’ awesome. I must have that duck (at about 1:20). Anyone know what she’s singing about?
Happiness, skipping, and clapping, if this translation is accurate:

My eyes might be bleeding now, but that was awesome!

This is the third time I’ve seen this video in three days. How strange! First in an email from my father-in-law, asking for a translation since we speak Japanese. Then on the blog of a friend who lived in Japan when we did. And now here! Internet, you keep getting smaller.
And the translation IS?????!!!?!!!!!
This is why I love the Offbeat Empire. Only Ariel could watch that and say, hey… I could decorate like THAT.
Thank you, I needed that today.
