If you’re an old school Homie, you’ll remember my obsession with searching for vintage time capsule homes that are on the market. You may also remember that I have a special love affair for vintage bathrooms. Well, welcome back to “Megan’s Vintage Real Estate Gems!” Today I have found a doozy in the hills of Diamond Bar, California. Or as the realtor says:
“Amazing custom-built home, Magnificent estate located in prestigious 24hour-guard-gated community “The Country Estates” This property has been owned by the original owners since it was custom built. … Custom double front doors welcomes you to a Grand entrance. Gracious formal rooms are balanced by wonderful casual living spaces on the Main level. Upstairs is 4855 sq. ft and Down stairs area is 3493 sq. ft which includes full game room, personal gym, full bar, temperature-controlled wine cellar, bowling alley, and much more.”
That “much more” includes glorious vintage wallpaper, epic fireplace, a bowling alley, a library, a wine cellar, and an “open concept” bathroom in the primary bedroom. Oh yes… I said “open concept” bathroom. Just wait and see…
I mean… right away I’m in love! The wallpaper, the winding staircase, the arches as far as the eye can see.
And it’s just as impressive looking down at the entrance from the upstairs. I see you, floor-to-ceiling windows!
But it’s not time to go upstairs yet, we need to enjoy this formal living room with incredible views. But who cares about views when you have THAT FIREPLACE!
I am losing my shit over this impeccably restored period home in Denver, Colorado. Not only is the home a mid-century modern dream, but it's... Read more
Is that floor-to-ceiling travertine? One can only hope.
I got excited when I saw this room because it has a library wall that blends into a built-in bar. And that was before I saw…
There’s a SECOND bar in this house in the basement pool room, of course. Along with…
An ACTUAL library.
And a wine cellar that would feel at home in an actual winery. (Can you believe this is just a section of the wine cellar? Who owns this much wine? Besides me in my dreams.)
And just when you think this house can’t get any more impressive they threw in a bowling alley just for funsies.
Okay, on our way back upstairs, let’s stop off at this guest bathroom to appreciate the incredible floor tile, and to give that shiny wallpaper a little love.
And then let’s head upstairs to…
The primary bedroom that has a wall of mirrors and a it’s own giant fireplace. Also, I’m just digging the chandeliers-as-bedside-lamps thing.
But what we’re really here for is the fully-carpeted open-concept bathroom! Yes, guys, open-concept isn’t just for kitchens.
Did you know you could just build a shower anywhere? Like in the middle of your bathroom? The only notes I have on this is why did they make the shower view the toilet and not the this:
I have stared at this image forever. There’s just SO much to enjoy: The blue sunken bathtub. All the carpet. The built-in bench so your guests can sit comfortably while you do a casual “tub hang.” The golden swan bath fixtures. The chandelier. And the stained glass window. And the scale that matches the carpet!? This is just *chefs kiss* NO NOTES!
And all of this can be yours for 2.3 million. Which, yeah, I would actually pay that for all of this.
That open concept bathroom screams 70’s sex party to me.
