Galentine’s Day is coming soon! No, not the holiday for the couples, the wondrous holiday born from Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation. The FUN one, okay? The one that celebrates all of your friends, gals and otherwise. Coupled or single or N/A.
Celebrating the beautiful, naïve, sophisticated newborn babies. You beautiful tropical fish. You beautiful, talented, brilliant, powerful musk oxen. And of course, you poetic noble land mermaids.
If you’re wanting to celebrate all of your pals at a Galentine’s Day brunch, this is how I would do it…
A fun signature cocktail/mockatil
Having one batched cocktail at your brunch allows for cash-saving and a fun drink. Just back it up with lots of water and sparkly non-booze-y drinks, too. Here are a couple of ideas:
- Skittles cocktails
- Tons of mocktail ideas
- Even MORE mocktail recipes!
- Apple cider Moscow mule
- Cotton Candy Champagne Cocktail
- Sparkling rosé strawberry cocktail recipe
- Rose Water Cointreau Fizz
Or just grab a few bottles of rosé + OJ or some of your favorite craft brew and be done and done.
Non-cheesy favors
No hearts necessary, but fun nostalgia, snarky humor, and irony is WELCOME:
A killer playlist
We’re making this an empowering and positive Galentine’s Day party so it’s all about upbeat, lots of good lady-driven music, and self-love. I’m lifting ideas from an Offbeat Bride post for these recs, but they’re SO good.
Easy and delish finger foods
- A super easy and FANCY-looking cheese board
- Leslie’s favorite: WAFFLES! Chicken and waffles or lemon poppy-seed waffles, perhaps?
- Fancy and yummy popcorn flavors
- Easy whipped cream desserts
- Homemade soft pretzels!
A good party game
Try a super easy-to-learn social game to get everyone LOLing. I like Cards Against Humanity, Exploding Kittens, Werewolf, Mafia, Murder of Crows, and Secret Hitler).
For a crew full of smart phone holders, these group games on your computer, game console, or TV are SO fun.
Some self-care thrown in
Never miss an opportunity to get relaxed when you can. Pull out some eye masks, water bottles, and curl up under some weighted blankets to cap the day off with some relaxation and a movie.
Rule: no bad-mouthing yourself!
We’re not all about hating on singledom or lamenting the bad parts of ourselves on Galentine’s Day. So leave the negative talk about yourself at the door — even if you’re just planning this with yourself and your pets.
