My birthday party always falls on the same weekend as the time change, so I thought it would be fun to host a time-travel party. My guests were asked to dress as someone from their favorite era (early 21st century attire was totally fine) or as their favorite Doctor Who Character. I dressed like a Dalek.
Here’s how I threw an awesome Doctor Who-themed birthday party with Whovian decor, favors, and food!

Wow. Seriously, wow. That is one crazy detailed party! (It would never occur to me to go to that much effort to throw MYSELF a party like that. Someone else, sure.) I would have LOVED to go to your wibbly wobbly timey wimey party!
Totally agree! I bet everyone had a fantastic time.
(I think I did less planning than this for my wedding!)
What a fantastic party!
THIS IS THE BEST PARTY EVER.
And you are the most adorable dalek.
You are too kind. For the light-up Dalek earring, I went to a local craft store and got those tiny blinking light bulbs that go into balloons. I put them on a set of ear wires and was good to go.
LOVE this! The appropriate food is amazing, and that’s a super-cute Seal of Rassilon! I hope everyone had a brilliant timey wimey.
WOW! That is one intense and impressive party! I’m exhausted just looking at everything you made/planned!
BTW, I’ve actually made real fish fingers and custard. Believe it or not it’s not bad! Granted I breaded my own fish, so it was a little different than real fishsticks, and I made my own custard so it may not have been as sweet as a packaged kind, but seriously it’s not as gross as it sounds! I actually quite liked it 🙂
You may be the coolest person ever. That is all.
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
I…. I have no words. This would make the best party EVER. YOU ARE A FANTASTIC NERDY OVERACHIEVER. I salute you! Please start throwing Doctor Who themed weddings for a living! 🙂
Dammmn. I wish I was your friend so I could’ve got an invite to the PARTY OF THE CENTURY.
Fezzes are cool. Bowties are cool. This party? Waaay cool.
Allons-y!
Absolutely amazing! I would have had a whale of a time at that party, good job indeed!
Just a note about the goodie table: you can’t get silver dragees in California. So, the edible ball bearings are actually silver Sixlets.
Are those Gally ribbons I spy? 🙂
Yes, they are. I’m an annual attendee of the Gallifrey One convention in Los Angeles.
Nice! I started going a couple of years ago. Already can’t wait for next year!
The party looks awesome, btw. 🙂
Damn, and I thought I did well with my blue table cloth and galliferyan bunting for the season 7 premier…. That’s amazing work!
We did have actual fish fingers and actual custard though… surprisingly not nearly as disgusting as it sounds…….
also….
Tic-Tocs!!

Can we be friends?
Actually, I’ve been thinking about how awesome it would be to throw a 50th Anniversary party this November. These are some great ideas!
How did you make the jelloto look like the Ood Collective Mind
I’m guessing with this dessert mold shaped like a brain!
wow!!!!!! this totally gives me ideas for my geek themed birthday party! thanks!:D
Wow. I was trawling the web looking for ideas for my 50th anniversary Who themed part and found all your ideas amazing. I had already thought of stripey jelly in tall glasses for the Tom Baker scarf and marshmallows for the adipose. One guest is making a tardis cake and another is making some of his amazing flapjack but not sure how he is themeing it. I plan to dye some white fabric blue and sort of tent my square porch so when you walk into my house its the Tardis. I love how detailed you were and hope my humble version looks half as good as yours. Brilliant, Fi from Yorkshire, England
This is great. My daughter wants a Dr. Who birthday party? What did you use to make the Ood Collective Mind and Pocky Sonic Screwdrivers? Thanks.
The Ood Collective mind is simply Jello and a brain shaped mold. You might want to add an extra pack of unflavored gelatin to firm it up a bit. The sonic screwdrivers are simply Pocky dipped in melted candy coating. I used Wilton’s.

I’m planning a Dr Who 50th anniversary party. There are some great ideas here already. I have thought up, but not actually tried:
Dalek domes: matchmaker and icing eye stalk pushed into tea cake dome, jelly tot ears.
Alien fruit salad: some items in strange colours eg. blue melon balls. Others just unusual such as dragon fruit.
Sontaran doughnut heads.
Sonic screwdriver bread sticks: decorated with bands of sesame seeds and poppy seeds.
Bow tie pasta shapes: there must be some potential there…
Wow, this is amazing! I am currently planning my son’s 10th birthday and this will a fantastic idea for him!!
Love it all. I needed some ideas for my sons birthday party and most who are attending are huge fans of the show. This is how I came accross this. You are so creative! <3
On a side note under the jammie dogers you wrote you put a picture of the fourth doctor but That was 11s button …. Otherwise you are very clever.
Where did you find the images for your Bananas, Tardis destruct button? My 6 year old (soon to be 7) is having a Doctor Who birthday? I am trying to find things for the treat bag but, being in Louisiana, I cannot find anything!
The pencils! Where did you get them!?
OMG!!! This is awesome!!!
Also, the space fabric you used as a table cloth? I made my Lego Star Wars wedding garter out of the same fabric!
