Proof you can be nerdy, pregnant, artsy, and totally smokin’ in your maternity photos

Montomery, AL-based photographer Gina of The Element of Photograpy sent us this cute maternity session a few weeks ago, and I’ve been excited to share it with you guys ever since.

How can I tell my gynecologist I don’t want her to be part of my pregnancy without hurting her feelings?

Is it weird to see my regular doctor for a preconception checkup knowing I don’t necessarily want her to be my OB? Do birthing centers do those kinds of checkups and should I find one prior to getting pregnant to avoid the above awkwardness? Do most couples pick an OB/midwife before getting pregnant, or am I putting the cart before the horse?

What do you wish you had done differently after finding out you were pregnant?

Now that we’ve started trying to get pregnant, I wonder what things do people regret not having done since day one, things like taking pictures, writing a diary, or even health related. Tell me: what do you wish you had done from the beginning of your pregnancy, and what are you glad you did do?

Kate and Zach’s blissful baby-on-the-way maternity session

I love love love when photographers and couples connect and form a relationship that lasts over years. Amy Ann (of Amy Ann Photography) shot Kate and Zach’s queer Jewish wedding last year, and then recently shot their maternity session a few weeks ago.

So… just how hard is it to have a newborn while in college?

My husband and I just started our first year of college together (he’s 25 and I’m 22). We just got married, but our problem is that we both want a baby, but aren’t sure if its such a good idea.

When should we tell our sensitive toddler that we’re having another baby?

After peeing on a stick, we conceded that we now have a theoretical baby incubating currently in my midsection. We’ve been trying for a few months, so for a nice change, it’s expected. My husband and I already have a wonderful, rambunctious, handful of a three-and-a-half-year-old son, who in the last year has expressed an extreme desire for a sibling. I have never seen a kid love babies so much. All kids, any age, he adores them all, so since I never wanted to raise an only child, it was easy to start trying for spawn number two.

Piercing question: I have dermal anchors in my back — should I remove them before giving birth?

I am a first time mama-to-be and I have piercings, as I am sure many other offbeat readers do. The question I am coming up on is about some of my less than removable piercings, namely, my dermal anchors.

My female acupuncturist knocked me up — and it was mostly painless

When I first met my acupuncturist in a small Brooklyn practice where a mechanic shop spewed fumes nearby, I took one look at her and hoped she would knock me up. In fact, I desperately hoped she was the one. The one who would know just where to stick those freaky needles for my womb to quiver and totally rock out a life force ready to take the world by storm in 9+ months. I hoped she was magic. I hoped it happened immediately.
