How our cat demands we use fabric grocery bags — and the 5 tricks we use to remember to use them!
I WANT to help the environment, but that alone usually does nothing to help me remember my reuseable shopping bags. Then the issue went from “Help the environment” to “Help the environment and save the cat from death by plastic.”
My cat shits outside, how about yours?
I had a plan, and it was to get my cat to go to the bathroom outside. (My “outside” means our tiny balcony off of our living room.) This has LONG been a goal, but was only just accomplished with the help of a few key products and some training.

Danielle lives in a barn built against bluffs along the Mississippi
I love so much about my barn. The original wood and stone is still visible despite all the renovation. The house is completely covered in ivy, which I thought looked really cool when I moved in this summer, but it completely blew my mind when it started turning red and gold this fall. I LOVE that it still has an open hay-loft type layout. I think that all of the old-timey features that make this place completely unique fit in with my personality (out front I still have a hitching post — A HITCHING POST — for realz) since I’ve always wished I was born in my parent’s generation. There was much better music back then.

Homemade cat toys that don’t look like trash
Like many cat parents, I have brought home a number of toys for my little guys…only to see them left untouched.
I abandoned purchased toys and now look for items around the house. The cats love twist-ties, the hair elastics, glasses of water, etc., but this usually translates into a display of trash all over the floor.
Any ideas for homemade toys — beyond tying stuff to string — that don’t look like trash?
