Remember the brick-ceiling Spanish apartment of Clarisse, her partner, and a friend?
I’ve been thinking about ceilings a lot because sometimes, when I can’t sleep, I stare at the one in my bedroom and wish there was something interesting up there. This is what I’ve found in my research of alternatives to the rough plaster ceiling.
Crafty Homies, get on this: arrange old embroidery hoops with interesting fabrics.
Okay, I’m ALL ABOUT this drapey beachy ceiling dressing.
Christmas comes but once a year so I have to share ANOTHER dark Christmas tree from a reader -- even though we already showed one... Read more
Curbed recently highlighted a real estate listing, noting the “torture chamber-style” ceilings. I think that’s a little too far.
Okay, so it’s a whole room of eggshell deepest black, but it’s SO HOT GOTH IT HURTS!
Mmmmmmm, tin paneling. It’s super expensive now — I’ve seen one of those square feet marked for $300 at salvage shops — but there ARE plastic knock-offs which, with a little paint-love, could glam up the top of a room.
What are your favorite ceiling decorating ideas? Photos and links, please!
Woah. Sleeping in that all-black room must be… interesting. Hah.

And if you’re not ready to go crazy on the walls? White walls and bright ceiling is pretty money too — http://pinterest.com/pin/9910522/.
Awesome ceilings! I love the first one that was posted.
I’ve always wanted something like this for my bedroom ceiling. Kind of like a grown up version of the stick on / glow in the dark stars I had as a kid. Also, it would make an awesome night light:

LOVE. Wow!
My love and I DREAM of this…someday!
Yes! There’s a bar in my area that has this in one of their rooms and I loooooooooooooooove it. I want to do this on our vaulted living room ceiling so bad.
When I was in high school I had a bunch of handmade kites hanging from my ceiling. Looked kind of like the first picture above but with more random shapes. My favorite was the tie dye one with dancing bears on each of its points 🙂
How about this dandelion installation ceiling?

What happens when you turn a fan on or open a window lol.
Our house has one of those faux tin cielings in the upstairs bathroom – painted bronze, it looks pretty cool!
That “article” about the pointed ceiling is ridiculous, I would LOVE to have that house, ceilings and all! I’d just rip out the wall paper, re-paint the whole house and decorate it to match the awesome ceilings!
All those pointy downy bits would have to bad feng shui wouldn’t they?!

I’ve been putting all of the postcards I’ve collected over 20+ years up on the ceiling. There are hundreds of them, offering endless hours of gazing!
I dont have apicture of it, but growing up the ceiling in my room was COVERED in glow-in-the-dark stars and moons and planets. All colors and shapes and sizes. No night-light needed, by the time they lost the glow…i was asleep! As igot older I used to wish on those stars, and find my own constelations… I plan on doing it for my babies (when we actually have a house with a nursery)
Personally, I don’t think you can go wrong with the good old fashioned glow in the dark stars 😉
I have a shelf above my bed which I’ve taped a list of goals too. It would be brilliant to one day have a ceiling with all my dreams/goals/hopes stencilled on! Maybe I should put that on the goal list…
Copper and tin ceilings are such a dream.
