It’s almost Father’s Day: let’s get our budget-friendly geeky gifting on via ThinkGeek
I’m a big-time fan of giving gifts that have little to do with parental roles: many of the comments on gifts for Butch moms are the perfect example of this. Both of you KNOW that you’re parents — so why celebrate a day about being a parent with kid-themed gifts? AS SUCH, here are a few of my favorite gifts for the geek you’re crushing on in that partner-for-life kind of way.
Finding the difference between being amused by your kids vs. laughing at them
I think a lot of parents have those “I swear I will NEVER do that to my child” rules and this has always been one of those concerns for me. My experience of exclusion and embarrassment has made me want to treat every child I come in contact with as an equal.
An outdoors, tie-dyed maternity session with PETS!
The secret to awesome maternity photos may just be adding a vintage hand-made quilt AND your two slobbery furry “first babies” into the mix… though maybe not at the same time.
Giant squid engulfs bedroom, and I’m jealous
Anita Roll Murals created an amazing giant squid mural that wraps around the entire room. She described this work as, “Giant squid engulfs this little boy’s room with playful tentacles. A little over the top yes… but why not?”

What is sex like during various stages of pregnancy?
I’m not currently pregnant or planning to be anytime soon, but I think I might have kids… some day. I have tons of questions about pregnancy and raising children, but whenever I really think about pregnancy I inevitably always wonder: what is sex like while you’re pregnant?
It took me 18 months to fall in love with my daughter
It took me one and a half years to fall in love with my daughter. There’s no deadline, I know, but I thought I would fall in love with her right away. It was like that for my partner — she fell in love at first sight.
Where can we score affordable baby furniture that’s not so… khaki?
My wife and I are doing some pre-baby furniture shopping, in the hopes of avoiding a mega-spree of spending all in one expensive rush. We live in a smallish Manhattan apartment, with no room for a full-size crib, so we are pretty drawn to the idea of a co-sleeper — but why are they so… ugly?
