How Doctor Who inspired me to let go of the past
It might sound odd, that The Doctor — a character from a TV show, who travels freely in space and time — has inspired me to let go of the past. But hear me out…
5 point plan for quitting a job when they don’t want to let you go
It’s been several wonderful years, and now I have to steel myself, grit my teeth, and quit my job so I can work on my own goals of development. With that in mind, here’s my five point plan to quitting my job when they don’t want to let me go…
Being a true life faerie
All my life I felt that I should really have been born a faerie and recently I decided to become one. We have been running The Faerie Circle for about a year now, and while there have been challenges, it has definitely brightened up my life.
How do you get into reading comic books?
I’ve been thinking about reading comic books (or graphic novels? Are they different?) for a while, but I just don’t know where to start. Can the Homies suggest some comics and a good issue to start with?
How I hacked my anxiety with my iPhone
So much of my time is taken up by worrying about the time, that I can barely do anything else. I work, anxiety-ridden, with one eye on the clock. I don’t dare make other plans on days I already have plans, lest I lose track of time. And my heart is beating hard and fast for hours on end. I (started to) defeat my body image issues with a sword
A few months after starting to run regularly, my fiance found a local sword fighting class. Even a year earlier I might have hesitated (“swords aren’t for people like me”) but thanks to my new-found confidence, I was ready to dive in. I’ve spent the last six months focusing on thinking of my body in new, positive ways. I focus on what I can do instead of my perceived flaws. I don’t wake up every morning feeling like the most beautiful woman on the planet, but I also don’t usually wake up in a cloud of self hate.
I’m an anarchist and so are you (probably)
Smashing the windows of Starbucks, a giant red encircled A, and the music of the Sex Pistols… these are the things, images, and sounds that may be evoked when people are discussing anarchy. I’m writing to set the record straight and share with you the ways in which anarchy can and should be incorporated into everyday life.
