Remember this magical Harry Potter home decor from reader Jasper Price and his wife Angie? We could only imagine how extra festive it got around the holidays at Chez Hogwarts. We don’t have to imagine anymore — Jasper shared with us their fantastical collection of mystical Christmas enchantment! Here’s what they had to say about their efforts to recreate the spectacle. Just watch out for the house elves sending up the feast…
It’s the most magical time of the year with the return of our Wizarding World Christmas tree. Angie Cason and I have been collecting Harry Potter ornaments since 2000 — or rather Angie has been collecting that long, I just joined the festivities with our first Harry Potter tree as a couple back in 2003. Since that first tree, we’ve amped up the display.
Angie’s cousin Adam Upshaw Klocke suggested the Sorting Hat as the tree topper while helping us decorate some years ago, house scarves became our tree garland (we did a last-minute sub out of our normal ones for a brighter set this year), we added the prop replicas I made including the Monster Book of Monsters and Quidditch case.
The living room itself has garnered more Hogwarts decor than in previous years… as has the rest of the house (we’re waiting on our Christmas gift, the Great Hall bed from Pottery Barn Teen, to come in any day now). Every year we forget to take individual photographs of every ornament and prop replica on the tree, and then the ornaments just become so hidden it’s hard to get to them all. And every year I tell Angie, in my best Chief Brody impersonation from JAWS, “You’re gonna need a bigger tree.” Maybe next year we’ll try the Engorgio spell for that.
GAH it’s so fun. Let’s get to the details. We’re only sharing a few of the shots, so definitely head over to the Facebook gallery to see the rest and tons of details of their ornaments in particular…

Random little question here – where did they get the spellbooks? Ancient Runes Made Easy, Unfogging the Future, etc. I’ve been looking for repro-notebooks for ages!
We actually just scanned some prints we have of MinaLima’s books … measured books we have around the house and printed faux covers to wrap those with!
You should very much check out the Epbot blog. Jen and her husband John do a Potter party every holiday season and they make almost everything themselves. This year they did a slumber party in the Hufflepuff common room. Last year was very fancy and in the style of Fantastic Beasts. The year before I can’t remember but they built a faux brick wall like the one that opens up to Diagon Alley. They are so darn creative and describe all their crafts in detail so anyone can make them.
I actually shared their Potter escape room on Facebook just a few days ago! So much fun!
Ever since this hit my inbox I’ve been singing “Don your Mrs Weasley sweater, fa la la, la la la, la la la…”
Happy Hogwarts Christmas!
Omg that works perfectly! Haaa!
