Photographer Brigette Sullivan posted these family portraits on her blog last week, noting:
Inspired by a news article I read in today’s Huffington Post citing findings from a study by the U.S. National Longitudinal Lesbian Family Study (NLLFS), I share this photo. The study reports zero percent of abused children in households with two lesbian parents over a seventeen year period (compared to 26% of children in heterosexual parent families).
The adorable couple I photographed a few weeks ago definitely illustrate the deep love and devotion two parents share with each other and for their new family. From the moment I was welcomed in to their home, I could feel the serenity, joy, and overwhelming adoration they have for their beautiful daughter. She is a lucky girl to have two doting, nurturing, brilliant mommies.
It is my hope that the policymakers of our country take note of studies like the one put out by NLLFS, noting the immense benefits of legalized same-sex marriages as well as supporting gay and lesbian couples in their choice to raise happy, healthy, well-adjusted, productive members of society.
