Hello, Homies, and happy Monday! Let’s take a look at what’s going on in the Offbeat Home Flickr group. Let’s go summer crazy!
Clicky Links! Explore the internet!
- CRAFT’s round up of furniture made from assorted drawers. Thanks, Leona!
- Ang sent along a concept of a hamper made from a clean, fresh steel barrel.
- Thanks to Erin, I have a new blog subscription. It started with Mr. Lentz’ post about making one’s own wind turbine.
- Kei wants us all to know about the book There’s Lead in Your Lipstick — about the plethora of chemicals in makeup. Here’s a link for Canadians.
- MOMA store sells scissors that shred as they cut! These are on my studio Christmas list.
Offbeat Home wants your shots! Upload your photographs to our Flickr pool and we’ll alllllll look at them. You can also submit stories, tours, how-tos, questions, and clicky links. Check out the submissions page for all the information.
I would like to live in that rainy day haven, please. It looks delightful.
Oh that bathroom would be such a delight to my cats. “And I knock you off, and I knock you off, and I knock you off…”
That rainy day haven looks a-MAY-zing.
My cats too! They would systematically knock them down every time they need something from me. It would be a disaster, but it is really pretty!
That would be my cat. In the morning. “Oh hey, you need to wake up now, or I’ll keep making noises.”
I don’t know about you guys, but when my cat is feeling bratty he knocks something off a surface, looks at me, waits, and then knocks more stuff off while locking eyes with me.
My cat looks at you in the eyes while it flicks cards off a stack, one by one. Which is especially problematic if they are expensive Magic the Gathering cards, carefully stacked in decks around the house.
hahaha that was my first thought too. I’m still trying to figure out a way to display things on shelves without them being instantly destroyed in feline rage.
YAAAAY! I made it on the montage after all, even without my unicorn painting!!!
Now I need to take a picture of the replacement painting I was given by a particularly offbeat neighbor…
We really need the full story here. Perhaps a feature? (hint hint)
Oh yes, definitely a feature! It has been quite the saga. We’re on a busyish road, so people stop and do a double takes all day. We see them through our living room window 🙂
Hmm. Unicorn theft from a porch….are you the same person from my neighborhood who had this problem? http://byrdpark.net/2011/06/25/did-hippies-steal-the-unicorn-painting/
WeeHermione, I’m assuming you’re also awfullybigadventure?
Sorry, looks like it showed up here after all!
hi and thanks again!
i’m loving the display idea in the bathroom! it’s perfect!
Wait, where are the purple walls?
Iiiiii think there had been a photo in the Montage I must have swapped out at the last edit — without changing the title of the post. Thanks for the heads up. 😉
OH MY GAWD SOMEONE JUST EGGED OUR HOUSE AND SCARED THE S*** OUT OF US. My door has been kicked in before so we did not know WHAT hit our house (it hit our window so it made quite the noise.) I wonder if it had anything to do with my refusing to pay the ransom? :-/ This is getting weird.
WHAT! That is bizarre.
i would looove one of these super creative people to help me with my apartment! lol.
a) LOVE the rainy day retreat!
b) I have shredding scissors (not sure if it’s the same kind; I clicked the MoMa link and it told me the link was not there) and would be willing to mail them to you if you want them that badly – I personally find they don’t really work very well. If you don’t mind cutting only a half inch at a time, they work fine. Last time I used them was for herbs, which worked better (they have been washed since), but on paper? Not so great.
