Paint crappy old luggage to turn it into awesome storage
Tara over at WhimsyFunk has come up with one of those baskets storage solutions: get some old gross luggage (not the fancy-ass “vintage” kind that costs a fortune, but just the old kind that looks like this), sand it, paint it, and VOILA: matching storage set that slides under the bed. For the full scoop on how to do it, head on over to Tara’s site!
A skull-themed bathroom with surprising storage ideas
Offbeat Homie T’Rina shared with us her colorful and skull-themed bathroom that includes this amazing flaming heart painting and mini skull mobile(!), kitchen goods as bathroom helpers, and lots of original artwork.
Store your tips in these sweet-ass tip jars
My husband and I want to collect all my tips in a jar to be used for going out to eat, ordering pizza when we are feeling lazy, or anything else that might not quite fit into our budgeting. I want to have a tip jar on the main floor of our home, so it is easy to both drop my tips in right when I walk in the door, but I want something decorative, but not see-through since our main floor is all windows. I know my Offbeat Homies will have great ideas!
Store your plastic grocery bags in tiny little folded triangles
While I love that Seattle recently enacted a plastic bag ban, I also have always made heavy use of my plastic grocery bags — they’re the perfect size for our smaller garbage cans, and I loath the idea of purchasing little plastic bags to hold trash. Because of this, I’ve started hoarding my diminishing stash of grocery bags, and A Lil Bird Told Me has a brilliant way to keep those slippery plastic sacks perfectly stored. Head on over to get the full instructions.
The CD storage problem: what’s a music hoarder to do?
My partners and I have a huge music collection that includes tons of CDs, vinyl and cassettes. I’ve been begging freecycle for CD towers, but nobody seems to have them around anymore, and even if I got some, they really only solve the CD storage problem. What’s a music hoarder to do?
Use a cake-stand as a bathroom caddy
So, let’s say you were an Offbeat Bride. You procured or made an amazing cake or cupcake stand for your fabulous wedding. Now you’re an Offbeat Homie and you’re like, “Bitches, I have all this wedding decor — wtf can I do with all of it?”
Well, VOILA.
Mind blown: cut off a bottle spout to store snack bags
I just…what is there even to say, here? Basically, the picture shows you what to do. It’s brilliant and it involves a half-full bag of snacks, a wide-mouth bottle spout, and a lid.
Yarn-pocalypse: Boring corner overhaul
Big fuzzy yarn-fluffy thanks to Honolulu Homie Lauren for uploading this color orgy of a moment into our Flickr pool. Or as she referred to it… “Yarn-pocalypse: Boring corner overhaul.” The moment I saw it pop up like rainbow magic in our Flickr pool, I just had to know more… paintings, dinosaurs, what’s hanging up over the kitchen pass through!? Amazing. And Lauren was more than happy to tell us all about her moment.
