This isn’t the first time we’ve delved into combining cheese, pears, and honey. Our fearless copyeditor Caroline whipped up some grilled cheese of the same ilk a few months back. This variation focuses on a sweeter bread and a strong cheese. Cue Challah bread and blue cheese, please!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- One Bosc pear (any type will do, but these keep their shape well and are a pretty brown color), sliced thinly
- Crumbled blue cheese
- Honey
- A mildly sweet bread like Challah, brioche, or even King’s Hawaiian, sliced fairly thickly
How to make it:
Assemble the ingredients from bottom to top: bread slices, pear slices, and about a tablespoon of blue cheese. Broil in the oven at high power for no longer than five minutes. Drizzle with honey before serving. That’s it.
I paired it with some grapes and a Prosecco and Orange Mango drink. Then I pretended I was in Europe instead of my Midwestern town for a few minutes. Good times for dimes.

*Ping!* Thanks for the simple and delicious looking recipe! I recently became very interested in cheese/fruit combinations and now I can troll the cheese counter for some yummy blue cheese. >:D
MY PLATES!!! ( http://offbeathome.com/2011/12/moose-loaf ) Yeeee!
ANYWAY! That looks super-yummy! Do you know if baked bleu cheese is safe for pregnant ladies?
I think Stephanie at Offbeat Mama has those plates too!
I’m no doctor, but this thread suggests that cooking helps. But again, check with yo’ doc first. 😉
I grew up with those plates!
I also have those plates! Got them from my grandparents when they moved…
