Making coffee with butter and eggs: an old-world way to spice up caffeine consumption

I quit my coffeemaker already. I use one of those single-serving strainers. Which makes my coffee dark and sludgey and thick and yummmm.

But today I made it more yum: out of creamer AND condensed milk, too lazy to dig for sugar in the back of the pantry, I spied a stick of butter on the counter and remembered someone emphatically telling me that butter + coffee = true love forever.

Hearty, healthy, filling, and fresh: Vegetarian gyros stuffed with smashed potatoes and feta

I was looking for something healthy to make last weekend and consulted my Archive of Bookmarks (it’s getting out of control). I found Shutterbean’s Potato Feta Gyros and headed out the door to get ingredients!

These were really yummy. Hearty, healthy, filling, and fresh. My partner loved them too (he’s never the first to admit how much he loves a vegetarian meal).

Eating Singer by hannah1cestmoi

What we eat and why it matters

Last summer I read The Ethics of What We Eat: Why Our Food Choices Matter by Peter Singer and Jim Mason. I was given the book for my birthday, together with some cookbooks. orange man thing

I want this mustached juice machine man

He is genius. Pop him in a fat orange, turn the handle (to rip up the fruit’s precious guts…it’s hard for me to stop anthropomorphizing) and sip!

Mmmmmm, orange guts!

Miso tofu tacos inspired by United States of Tara

The inspiration for these tacos came from many hours of watching United States of Tara on Netflix. In the episode miso tofu tacos with picked red onions, Tara makes said tacos. I instantly wanted to be in that scene eating those tacos. Here’s the recipe I conjured up.

Stop using plastic baggies: replace them with this homemade reusable fabric alternative

Like a good enviro-conscious Seattleite, I've been trying to reduce my usage of plastics and non-compostables. I realized the majority of plastic baggies we use are to hold dry snacks, and it seems like an awful waste to keep buying them, using them, and throwing them away. My friend stumbled upon some fabric reusable pouches on the internet, and per usual, I decided to try my hand at making a few!

Confessions of a kitchen gadget lover

My name is Ange and I have a serious addiction. It’s time I joined a group of like minded addicts because I could use some help — should I get the turquoise toaster or the red one that matches my kettle?…

I have an addiction to kitchen gadets.
