Dave is the father of four-month-old Alice Elfie.
What I love most about him is that he’s not “above” doing ANYTHING to help our family. From all the cleaning and laundry, to making sack lunches for me to take to my workspace and making sure that I get dinner, and nurturing our daughter when I have to work, it’s Dave who saves my sanity and manages our family. No dress is too frilly for him to be seen pulling over Alice’s head, and when he strolls our daughter down the street I can’t help but feel a little giddy.
It’s funny that I think of him as a “family manager” but as a businessowner, having structure, routine, and a partner I can rely on is one of the greatest gifts David can give me. We both share roles of breadwinner (he in his reliable 9-5 job and me as an entrepreneur) and nurturer (me breastfeeding, him cloth diapering, both of us babywearing) and it has deepened our appreciation for the sacrifices, challenges, and triumphs of our lives together.
Our bond really grew earlier this year when we began taking childbirth classes before Alice was born.
I take Alice to work with me and Dave shows up on his bike after he gets off to help me with maintenance around the workspace, any orders I am scrambling with, and to take care of Alice. She truly lights up when she sees his face after a long day with mama.
Sometimes I think I am lucky to have a husband who is a truly equal partner and parent, but honestly that should be every woman’s standard. So I just pat myself on the back for picking a good one!!
Awesome! Everyone should feel like their partner is the best. Thanks for sharing.
