From the genius who brought you Weeping Angel Barbies, comes her DIY TARDIS lanterns…
Making TARDIS lanterns has been one of the bigger projects I’ve been working on. It is a time suck, but so worth it in the end.
Here’s how I made them…
Step one:
I kit-bashed these two patterns to make my lantern pattern: How to make a TARDIS model and Laterne 4-eckig basteln.
Step two:
I got the patterns traced on a TARDIS blue science project board.
Step three:
Cut out pieces. One hint, if you use actual card board, trim out about a 1/8th inch groove (it’s easier than it sounds) everywhere you want it to bend. It takes the bulk out of the bend and makes it sharp on the outside.
Step four:
Make stickers, and apply appropriately.
Step 5:
I used tissue paper to create the door and window panels (yes this one is all blue). I had to remove it and cut it down to put the white window part on and the police call box sticker in one panel hole.
Step 6:
Finish assembly.
Um, drool. This would be a really good centerpiece (surrounded by Weeping Angels, natch!).
