While brainstorming ideas for our Halloween wedding, the first project my guy and I agreed on were these nerdy Jack-o-Lanterns. We wanted them to cover a broad range of our interests from comic books, to TV fandoms, and classic literature.
Execution of course was a little more challenging; in the end we decided on carving into 6″ tall craft pumpkins from all the major craft stores. Even my grandma got into buying them for us!
Most templates, however, are made for larger and real pumpkins. My fiance is a talented graphic designer who modified and created appropriate templates which I carved using a Versa tool and a tiny saw from a “premier” pumpkin carving kit.
In the spirit of love, we want you to steal this idea for your Halloween pumpkins! All of the templates we have are pre-sized and ready for you to print and carve. They’re even in a format so you can edit them to your heart’s content.

These are fantastic! I was looking for just something like this yesterday and not finding a nice collection like these.
I like how most of these are not too complicated. I certainly know people who will whip out a Sawzall for an intricate pumpkin project, but I have had good luck with just the little saw from a pumpkin carving kit with stencils like these, as long as the pumpkin itself isn’t too thick.
Pumpkin carving is my favorite holiday activity! This year I did a sugar skull, a Cthulhu, and the Fallout Vault Boy! I did foam craft pumpkins with a hot knife for the first time this year, and now I just want to carve pumpkins year ’round (but I have a feeling my husband would eventually get annoyed when every surface in our house had a jack o lantern on it.)
