Stylish rolling bags to lug around your daily necessities

In my new job, my office is in an inconvenient location, and I don’t like to drive from building to building around campus. Consequently, I find myself lugging quite a lot of stuff around with me throughout the day: books, papers, laptop, regular daily stuff. That’s why I’m hoping for suggestions from Homies. Does anyone have suggestions for stylish rolling bags to lug around my daily necessities?

Should I volunteer or start a job?

I know that volunteering would be an amazing way to gain the experience that I need, but with graduation quickly coming and all my debt looming in the distance, I worry if I can afford it and if it’s worth the risk. Then again, I have had a few professors tell me that I should get a job instead of volunteering or interning, but I worry that no one will hire me due to lack of experience.

How to write a grad school CV that shows off the goods

I need a CV to complete my application for a graduate program in divinity — and I have no idea where to start! I did some Googling to try and find a good template, style guide, or even sample and immediately got stuck in a black hole of garbage career advice websites. Could anyone recommend a website or app I can use to generate a quality CV, or at least a style guide?

Community Education: Break out of your rut on the cheap

I love to try new things, but I don’t usually want to spend much money on exploring new hobbies that I may or may not stick with for very long. My solution? Community education classes! Here are some reasons why I recommend trying community ed…

I survived starting college early

I took my first college class when I was a fourteen-year-old freshman in high school. By fifteen, I had dropped out of high school to become a full-time resident student at a private college three and a half hours away from my parents. So, based on my experiences, and some of the things I’ve heard from my former dormmates, I thought I’d shared the pros and cons of starting college early.

How do I talk to potential roomies about living with me and my kid?

My soon-to-be ex-husband and I have shared custody of our son, which means he is with me about half of the month. In addition to being a mother, I work full time and am studying full time as well. (Read: I’m poor.) I’m living with a family member at the moment but I’m trying to relocate closer to school and work.

Have you transitioned from working full-time to full-time student?

I’ve been in my current career for almost seven years. Due to several factors, I’m thinking about going back to school to get my PhD and hopefully become a professor someday. Due to the program I want, it’s not possible for me to continue working in my field AND go back to school. Any advice out there for those who’ve made the transition?

How I learned to let go of fear, anxiety, shame when my son gets in trouble

While tucking my son into bed tonight I was flooded by grief and joy simultaneously. He is eight, so I am used to this. Every time he goes and grows up he leaves me with this memory of the younger boy he left behind that day, vanishing in my arms as I reach down to kiss him goodbye. Tonight is different though. Tonight, perhaps I am the one who grew up a little bit too. It’s amazing what a call from school can do.
