Why punk rock dudes can make great dads

In case you haven’t heard yet, there’s a movie rolling through theaters called The Other F Word. In this case, “F” stands for family, and this documentary is all about punks who have become parents. The tag line: “What happens when a generation’s ultimate anti-authoritarians — punk rockers — become society’s ultimate authorities — dads?” pretty much sums it up nicely. The father-focused film follows Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath, and Pennywise’s Jim Lindberg on their punk dad journey, which you can preview here.

A punkishly good afternoon

One of the things that a lot of photographers are doing today that I absolutely LOVE is involving some kind of narrative with their photo sessions. Take this series of shots from Briana Moore Photography for example — first, you’re chillin’ at the park. You have your two kiddos and baby in tow, just hanging out and having a good time. And then you breezily transition over a set of stairs and hang by an incredible brick wall, where you proceed to absolutely OWN your family photo session.

Punk comes home

One reader hosts an open studio tour, another makes driftwood useful, and there are a whole lotta clicky links in here

Also included: a hipster chandelier made of mason jars, cupcake wall art, and a documentary about Community Supported Agriculture.

A punk-inspired nursery and baby shower

Like Sheena, Laura and Matt’s little baby-on-the-way Gavin is going to be a punk rocker. Discotheques be damned!

Get ready to swoon over a tattooed punk mama and her blue-haired offbeatling

Brittany’s Flickr stream contains more goodies than I can count: kids with pink and blue hair, infants with (fake) tattoos, and a whole lot more. I’ll say this: this ain’t your mama’s child and family photography, y’all.
