The CD storage problem: what’s a music hoarder to do?
My partners and I have a huge music collection that includes tons of CDs, vinyl and cassettes. I’ve been begging freecycle for CD towers, but nobody seems to have them around anymore, and even if I got some, they really only solve the CD storage problem. What’s a music hoarder to do?
Baskets moment: Use pillowcases to keep sheet sets together!
This is such a simple silly tiny thing but it has made me so unreasonably happy that I thought I would share it, in case there is anyone else out there who doesn’t have all of their sheets perfectly folded and organised. There must be someone, right?
Monday Moment: An ever-changing artistic display (with sexy imagary bonus)
Longtime Homie Vacantmuse sent her artsy shelf moment our way. I love her idea of making space for an ever-changing art display. Could this be the first Monday Moment “great idea of the day” combo!? I think so.
Disguising the tube: How to make an old-school TV look less ugly
In my living room I have a modern flat screen television but in my bedroom I have a little twenty-something-inch old school tube TV. I have it sitting on a vintage suitcase to raise it off the dresser to make it visible while lying in bed. That helps the aesthetic nastiness of it, but is there any other ways to make it look cooler?
Use your vertical blinds to display letters and photos
Thanks to etimodnar for uploading this great idea to our Offbeat Home Flickr pool. Homie Etimodnar is using small clips to display cards and letters on their vertical blinds.
How to take your living room from “man cave” to “girly”
The apartment I’d like to have is the following: girly and pretty with soft colours — what a dream. Unfortunately, my apartment looks closer to a man cave than Jenni’s pretty apartment. How do I work around these comfy, yet quite masculine, black leather couches to create something girly?
How can I create a peaceful, Buddhist-inspired bedroom for my child?
I’ve been searching for Buddhist-inspired baby and/or kid’s rooms online — and I haven’t found much. Many of the rooms I’m finding are for adults, and I’m not sure how to incorporate the ideas into a kid’s room. I would love to see other people’s creative takes on creating a Buddhist (any branch of Buddhism) baby nursery. How have you created a bedroom inspired by Buddhism for your kids?
This teeny tiny home in Nanaimo makes me want to be more awesome
This little video about a tiny home made by Canada’s TwelveCubed Homes is so incredibly inspiring. Best quote? “The secret to living in such a small space is not to have too much junk.” Wise words, even for those of us living in larger spaces.
