Henri and his wondrous carnival-themed striped nursery
I totally squealed when these photos of Henri’s carnival-themed nursery popped up in our Flickr pool — I love these glimpses into people’s worlds! Henri’s room is adorbz, and (BONUS POINTS) his parents even found a way to feature a clown that isn’t a creepy. Let’s check it out.
We turned a bedroom into a crib for a formerly co-sleeping baby
We co-slept until my daughter was eight months old. It was an amazing experience for me, but she started teething at eight months. As the primary breadwinner of the family, and also the lightest sleeper, my husband felt it would be best to transition her to her own room, so that I could get at least a little sleep before embarking on what is typically a 13 hour day. But I hated putting her in a tiny crib (to be fair, she is big for her size)… so we decided to turn her room into a crib.
20 DIY pop culture themes for your baby’s nursery
The folks at Buzzfeed were on to something extra special when they concocted this list of 20 pop culture-themed baby nurseries AND how you could make your own versions — something special indeed! Themes range from Harry Potter to Pokemon to LOST (with polar bears included, of course) — here are few of our faves.
Keep Truckin’: Gus and his colorful John Lennon and Jerry Garcia-inspired toddler bedroom
In early September our son, Gus, turned two whopping years old and moved into a brand new bedroom. This is by far the best room Gus has ever lived in. It is totally and completely set up for him. Puzzles, blocks, books, dress up clothes, stuffed friends…they’re all so easy to reach! It’s amazing what a good set of built-ins can do for a toddler!
How can I create a peaceful, Buddhist-inspired bedroom for my child?
I’ve been searching for Buddhist-inspired baby and/or kid’s rooms online — and I haven’t found much. Many of the rooms I’m finding are for adults, and I’m not sure how to incorporate the ideas into a kid’s room. I would love to see other people’s creative takes on creating a Buddhist (any branch of Buddhism) baby nursery. How have you created a bedroom inspired by Buddhism for your kids?
Check out George’s super hip preschooler’s bedroom — think floor bed, world map curtains, and lots of color!
We recently moved into a new home, and welcomed our second child. Making our son’s bedroom a comfortable, fun and safe free-for-all space was really important to me in a time when he was feeling displaced both literally and figuratively.
Check out this sweet vintage black-and-white cartoon nursery
Even though we painted vintage cartoon murals on the walls we didn’t want our daughter’s nursery to be “themey.” Think “scene” over “theme” — our daughter’s room is like a booklover’s/modern DIYer’s explosion of fuchsia, turquoise, and orange in a black-and-white cartoon scene (with some retro toys thrown in there for good measure).
