What to buy before you move (and what to avoid buying until afterward)
My fiancee and I would like to move in together, but the actual date of the move in has been pushed back. Both of us currently live with our ‘rents and have never lived outside the ‘rents home before, so we don’t have any apartment stuff. I was thinking of purchasing some things for the apartment and keeping them stored in my current abode. My mother’s advice was this: don’t buy too much stuff, because it might not fit in to your apartment – aesthetic wise or space wise. So my question to Homies is this: what do you wish you had as soon as you moved in, and what could you have done without or what would you liked to have purchased AFTER you moved?
How on earth do you move with an outdoor cat?
I was wondering how on earth you move with an outdoor cat. In our current home, we leave the window open and she comes and goes as she pleases. However, we’re looking to move to an apartment about four hours away. She doesn’t adapt to change well (was hoping to somehow have her asleep during the drive), but I know that a lot of outdoor cats try and find their way back to their old home. We were thinking of transitioning her to an indoor cat, at least for a while, but she’s never even used a litter box before. When, if ever, will it be okay to let her out again?
How to not get scammed moving into a place you’ve never seen before
I’m an engineering student, and as such have moved quite a bit between co-ops, internships, and school. Simple, minimal furniture for those of us who move a lot
I’m about to embark on a new career change which may frequently involve temporarily relocating to multiple places across the country. These temporary moves would likely be just me, my dog, no car, and likely without my partner.
I am trying to think ahead, while keeping price and possible storage/shipping ability in mind. What kind of simple, minimal furniture options are out there for this kind of arrangement?
