If you have your own bundle of adorableness or maybe just like squeeing at newborn babes in cute costumes, this newborn photo sesh has it all — a sweet baby named Cade, bear ears, sleepy grump face (my fave), and that mysterious magic that goes into posing a sleeping baby. I still don’t understand how it’s done.

When my son was born I was already a photographer. I knew I wanted and needed to capture these first few precious weeks. So, apart from arranging for a photographer to come and take a few, I also prepared all my gear and resolved to practice taking the most perfect newborn pictures.   1. I love OBH and everything about it (and the community)! But… I kinda feel like pretty much every “non-offbeat” site on the internet ever has pictures of babies put in “cute” outfits and jammed into small things, with the (implied or explicit) idea of “squee”. I come to the Offbeat Empire for weirdness, not sameness!

    I love the posts about taking newborns traveling. And the *real* newborn photos the parents wish they’d taken. And I imagine OBH as a place we’d see newborn satire photos – like how about some babies put into a blender or under a lawnmower for a shoot? It’d even be slightly more in line with OBE stuff to see a baby dressed as the Doctor or a Dalek or a Storm Trooper or something. But like… baby in a bear outfit? That I’m supposed to “try not to squee” over?

    You guys know I love you! But, if I want to see other people’s babies dressed as things, I have facebook (to view all my friends’ babies doing that, plus regular poop reports), or pinterest if I really want to get into a hole (I don’t). 🙂 I know it also takes a lot to keep a site like this running, so maybe it’s a sponsored post? I dunno, just seems out of character for OBH.

    • Do you have to like every post? There’s a lot of content here that doesn’t always appeal to me, and that’s okay! Something that may be totally normal/not-offbeat for you might be totally weird for someone else!
