awesome clocks to spring forward withFor some of us, Daylight Savings Time is this Sunday. I hate losing an hour, but I love when we gain it back! So to celebrate my favorite way to have my body’s internal clock totally fucked with, I thought I’d round up some awesome clocks.

  1. We have a backwards clock (similar to this: http://www.amazon.ca/CoverYourHair-10-Inch-Backward-Clock/dp/B00EVYAD0S/). The numbers read counter-clockwise, and the hands rotate counter-clockwise too. It took about three weeks to get used to it, but now I have trouble reading a normal clock! The best part is the entertainment value of watching every single visitor to our apartment stare at it, certain that something’s wrong but unable to figure out what that something is.

    • This! We have a backwards clock and another clock in the same style that runs forwards, but whose numbers are randomized. Whenever someone comes over for the first time, there’s that WTF? moment about 3/4 of the way through the evening….

      (And now when I look at a clock, I have to take a second to see which way the second hand is moving.)

    • We had an anticlockwise clock in my math class in high school. I always found it way easier to read than a standard clock; I could glance at it and know the time, whereas a standard clock requires I stare at it a moment. I have no idea why. Maybe because I’m left-handed?

  3. In my last apartment, we had that ‘melting’ Dali-ish clock. It was really cool and got lots of comments, but it fell off the mantle ALL THE TIME. You brush against the mantle, clock in the floor. You walk by the mantle, clock in the floor. You walk into the room in a hurried fashion, clock in the floor. And when it fell, the battery would fall out and roll away too.

    So this is my fair warning to you all: velcro it to the mantle, or use one of those Command strip things, or something.

  4. We have the Dali clock in our house. I certainly haven’t had problems with it falling off, but then again, it’s on the edge of the TV cabinet, where we don’t really walk past. My husband just CANNOT read it though, I don’t know why, I have no issues. We do get lots of comments on it!
