Spotted this simple, relatively mess and pain-free craft idea over on Se7en. It looks like two yellow circles on some ribbon until you know the context. Then it becomes something else entirely. It’s inspired by the following passage from the book Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak:
“…And when he came to the place where the wild things are they roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws till Max said “BE STILL!” and tamed them with the magic trick of staring into all their yellow eyes without blinking once…”
If you’re reading the book with your kids (or planning to see the movie!) this sounds like a great way to bring the story to life. For instructions on how to create them, head on over to the original post at Se7en!
Those eyes also look like Khan's (sp?) eyes from the Jungle Book. "Gooooooo to sleeeeeeep!"
Very cute crafty idea, one even a non-crafty girl like me could handle.
Oh my gosh, you're right! It DOES look like Khan's eyes!
I liked the ease aspect of this craft idea as well. I'm not crafty at all but I feel fairly confident I could handle this!
This is a super cute craft idea, but as someone who has gone and seen the film, I do suggest not bringing young children (like under 12-14). While the book is certainly a wonderful read for young kids and I have a heap of nostalgia for it from my own childhood, the movie plot branches off into far more adult themes. Go see it with your adult friends for sure, because it's a beautiful work of film, just not for the younger set (in my opinion).
