Drive along on a foodie-fueled vacation in the Black Hills of South Dakota

A marriage quest that we have decided to embark on is to visit as many National Parks as we can over the course of our marriage. We thought, “Why not start in our own state?” Yes, why not. We drove across the great state of South Dakota to the Black Hills.

Escape the cold with this kitschy, Floridian winter getaway to Jacksonville Beach

I ended up in the Jacksonville Beaches area to attend a wedding. Coming from Michigan to Florida in December seemed like a good time to turn the trip into a nice vacation. The location is beautiful and I wanted to prioritize taking as much time to relax as possible.

A Christmas honeymoon trip to Universal Orlando

I am obsessed with Harry Potter and thought it would be a perfect vacation. We waited until after my school semester was done and made it our first Christmas/New Year’s together and our honeymoon. Plus Legoland had just opened, and that’s Geoff’s obsession, so it was super-perfect timing!

Our hipster city trip to Berlin

Berlin is a city of hipsters: especially in the neighborhood of Kreuzberg, which was right around the corner from our hotel. You almost can’t take a step without tripping over an artisan coffee bar, a craft beer pub or a vegan snack bar. It was amazing. We ate out every night, rarely spent more than € 40 for the two of us, and ate GREAT food. It was fabulous dahling.

We drove to Yellowstone National Park, then onto Glacier National Park — originally planning on going into Canada and Waterton Lakes, but alas, we forgot our passports! We planned on camping the whole time, possibly even doing an overnight backpacking trail, but the weather did NOT cooperate with us.

The most romantic Lord of the Rings tour of New Zealand you’ll see today

We decided to go to New Zealand, partially as this was Matt’s first trip overseas (and New Zealand is one of Australia’s closest neighbours), partially due to The Lord of the Rings. And finally we chose New Zealand because we wanted to try to keep the costs down, while having as much luxury as we could afford.
