Bastards and orphans: celebrating holidays with peers

How do you create a sense of community with a group of people who aren’t forced to put up with each other? If you’re creating your own chosen family, this post will help you get through the holidays a little more warmly.

Seeking agnostic, feminist homemaking blogs

I’ve been trying to find homemaking blogs that are more feminist or agnostic or atheist. Or basically, blogs that don’t talk about submitting to God as a step to becoming a good homemaker. I just want more spaces where I can read and comment without feeling as if I don’t really belong. I’m having difficulty finding many, and I was hoping for some recommendations.

How do you tell your kid you’re an atheist?

How do you have the atheist talk? We don’t believe in any religion, therefore we don’t have any literature, examples, or classes to give him. Reflections on the difficulties of pregnancy by a Roman Catholic feminist

Now that I’m actually pregnant, I’m realizing it’s not quite that easy. I actually really dislike being pregnant. I felt awful for the first four-and-a-half months. I couldn’t open my refrigerator door, I couldn’t cook or prepare my own food, I couldn’t food shop — the smells were too intense and the nausea was too debilitating. I didn’t feel like I was having a baby… I felt like I had become the baby.

When a pet dies, what do you do with it?

In preparation of the sad time that a pet dies, how will you… deal with his remains? I’ve rounded up seven ways to bury/honor/deal with a dead pet, but first I need you all to do me a favor…

Is it possible to teach your kids about other religions without imposing your own beliefs?

We both agree that we want our children to be able to choose what works for them as far as a religion and beliefs go… but we’re not well-versed in other religions. Where should we begin?

Teaching my child kindness and religion

Ashley was raised Catholic, and is struggling with how to teach her son the values she cherishes from her faith, but to deter him from picking up the traits that she finds less than desirable.

Graphic novels about religion and spirituality for kids

Graphic novels provide an offbeat way for parents to talk about various religions or spiritual beliefs with their kids.
