Let’s talk about living in a tipi year-round
I’m really interested in buying a tipi that you can live in year-round. I found some great manufacturing websites but the only thing is they all say the same thing, i.e.: yes it’s great to live in year round, it’s so romantic with the open fire etc., etc.
I would love to hear from real people who live in a Tipi year round (in particular, places with cold winters ala Canada) and find out the disadvantages as well as the advantages.
Do you take parenting advice from non-parents seriously?
I don’t have any kids of my own, but I have been a full time nanny for children ranging from newborn to 15 years old throughout the years. My friends have just started having children of their own, and the pleas for advice on Facebook seem endless. I feel that I have a lot of experience dealing with many common situations that arise during parenting but I am not actually a parent — so does that make me unqualified to give any advice?
How do I keep clutter from expanding and filling my new space!?
We’re about to move into a two bedroom apartment with a den. While I am ecstatic about having a little more room — like actually having a living room — with so much more space than we currently have I am worried about it easily becoming cluttered just to fill the space. Do you have any recommendations for how to deal with an increase in square footage while ensuring it is used intentionally?
How should we decorate these very tall walls?
The husband and I just bought a big house in semi-suburbs. It’s pretty bland right now (beige walls + beige tile floors = snooze) and while we’ve got plenty of ideas for making it the colorful, funky home that we want, I’m at a loss for what to do with the immense two story walls in the living room.
We’ll definitely paint them, but then what? I feel like they are calling out for something special. Anyone have any awesome decorating ideas for very tall walls?
How can we mosquito-proof our windows on a budget?
We have cats, which means our window screens have little tears here and there. Whenever we open the windows at night to cool the house down, we get eaten alive with mosquitoes slipping inside! Short of buying new window screens, how can we mosquito-proof our windows on a budget?
How DO you move out of state?
People pack up and move out of state all the time, right? It’s obviously a thing — a thing that my boyfriend and I can’t figure out how to do! In order to get an apartment, you have to have a job to prove your income; in order to get a job you have to live within a reasonable distance of the workplace. If it’s such a chicken and egg problem, how the heck do people do this?
How do you throw diverse parties where people blend like PB&J?
How do you bring people together in a party situation, especially when these people can be as disparate as your rocker lesbian friends, your nerdy friends from the anime club in university, and your conservative Chinese coworker?
Let’s talk about what washing machine to buy
We had an older washer break, and apparently it is not something Miss Fix-it here can fix. Being as it is an older washer and repairing may be an endless pit, we have decided to replace it. Does anyone have a washer they’d recommend? Has anyone ever purchased a refurbished appliance, and how did that work out?
