What should I bring when visiting a friend in the maternity ward?
Last weekend, when I got a text that it was go time and mom was being induced, I found myself excitedly asking, “What do I bring to the hospital?” I ended up taking Oreos for waiting family members and a tiny bouquet for mom — figuring they could throw it away instead of taking it home if hands were full of new child paraphernalia.
Plugged in peeps: what parent OR kid-friendly apps do you love?
I’m a little worried about letting my toddler have free rein with my iDevices, but it’s still something that happens from time to time. I’ve done my fair share of app research, and a lot of my offline friends often ask me for advice about apps for themselves or their kids.
How does your family handle non-sexual nudity?
I’m curious how other families feel about nudity at home. My husband and I frequently walk around the house in various states of undress, but now that our child is a year old we’ve been wondering when we’re “supposed” to cover up, or if we even need to. I’d love to hear how other folks handle this!
How can I tell my gynecologist I don’t want her to be part of my pregnancy without hurting her feelings?
Is it weird to see my regular doctor for a preconception checkup knowing I don’t necessarily want her to be my OB? Do birthing centers do those kinds of checkups and should I find one prior to getting pregnant to avoid the above awkwardness? Do most couples pick an OB/midwife before getting pregnant, or am I putting the cart before the horse?
I’ll be traveling on mass transit with my baby — what should I keep in mind?
Does anybody have any extensive experience navigating mass transit with a baby (and everything that goes with the baby) in tow? I don’t want to become the woman with the huge stroller on the bus who all the other passengers hate!
What do you wish you had done differently after finding out you were pregnant?
Now that we’ve started trying to get pregnant, I wonder what things do people regret not having done since day one, things like taking pictures, writing a diary, or even health related. Tell me: what do you wish you had done from the beginning of your pregnancy, and what are you glad you did do?
So… just how hard is it to have a newborn while in college?
My husband and I just started our first year of college together (he’s 25 and I’m 22). We just got married, but our problem is that we both want a baby, but aren’t sure if its such a good idea.
When should we tell our sensitive toddler that we’re having another baby?
After peeing on a stick, we conceded that we now have a theoretical baby incubating currently in my midsection. We’ve been trying for a few months, so for a nice change, it’s expected. My husband and I already have a wonderful, rambunctious, handful of a three-and-a-half-year-old son, who in the last year has expressed an extreme desire for a sibling. I have never seen a kid love babies so much. All kids, any age, he adores them all, so since I never wanted to raise an only child, it was easy to start trying for spawn number two.
