Tricks for storing holiday decorations so you can actually use them again

I love Christmas decos — it's a chance to hide all the bits of the house I don't like. But by March or April I really have to take them down again. Luckily, I've gotten really good at putting those decorations away so I can use them again next Christmas — no more broken baubles on the slate floor.

Agnostic seasonal decor: it's winter, not Christmas

I'd love to get some ideas for non-Christmas-holiday decorations. DIY would be especially treasured. Something more winter solstice-based…or really just not anything overly Santa Claus/presents/Christian-centered.

I am really awful at bringing details together, and I would love some offbeat advice!

Undersea creature Christmas ornaments (including a Seussian fish, and a sexy merman)

My Christmas decorations are all ocean-themed. The santa on our stocking isn't on a sleigh, but paddling a canoe, our tree is covered in shells and ocean critters, and our color scheme is turquoise, green, and silver. So, I set out to find some of the best ocean-themed Christmas tree ornaments out there — and came away with a big haul, all sea creatures, some more fantastical than others.
