Ok, so don’t get caught unawares: Father’s Day is sneaking up: June 19th!
I was doing some browsing of my own over at ThinkGeek, and I thought I’d share some of their awesomely dorky gift ideas for food-lovers, clothes horses, and go-go gadget dads.
So, set your phasers to stunning the papa (or other dad-like parent) in your life, and let’s dive in to some nerdy gifts…
Foodies
Guess who’s tooootally making vegan corndogs for the whole dang family!?
…and then slicing the pizza in the final frontier?!
Literal sauce is literal.

I'm a big-time fan of giving gifts that have little to do with parental roles: many of the comments on gifts for Butch moms are... Read more
This kit that contains everything papa needs to get started with molecular cuisine, including 50 individually portioned thickeners, emulsifiers, and binders that, when mixed with your ingredients and using the included tools, can make extruded spaghetti-like strands of arugula, glistening pearls of balsamic vinegar, or stratified towers of jellies, cremes and foams.
DILFy fashion
We’ve seen several Offbeat grooms rock this 8-bit tie, and it’s pretty much always a winner.

Cuz, you know: sometimes a Jedi just needs to lounge around after a shower.
Four words: bottle opener cuff links. You know, for when papa needs to get dressed up AND drunk at the same time.
Gadgetry
Your eco-homeboy loves his iPhone, but wants to give it a nice, earthy feel. VOILA!
Ooh, it’s a watch with a USB flash drive hidden inside. For added bonus, pre-load the drive with A) happy family photos B) scandalous photos of yourself C) BOTH!
This grassy patch transforms that snake pit of charging cords and cables into a little lawn of charge-tastic zen.
Yeah, that’s the real deal. We featured an Australian Star Wars wedding on Offbeat Bride recently, where the bride and groom had a set of these, and the comments were filled with OMG WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE LIGHT SABERS. This is where. Not cheap, but also not chintzy.
These are just a few of my favorites — I’m sure you’ll get a looooot more ideas over at ThinkGeek.
Hehehe, I did the lightsabre for Christmas. I was eying the robe, but it’s just out of the price range I’m looking at for Father’s Day.
I got my pizza-loving husband the Enterprise pizza cutter for Christmas, and it was a big hit (we are both bit Star Trek fans). Thankfully it’s not just a show piece – it’s a pretty decent pizza cutter.
Neato ideas. I already bought a creme brulee blow torch for my husband for father’s day, but I love the other foodie ideas here for future gifts.
I love the scandalous photo idea! : )
Ooo, bootle opener cufflinks! Perfect for my dad – he’s a well-dressed lush, and proud of it!
Among all that awesome stuff, we also got one of the Geek Dad stickers from Think Geek. We got Funk the “Episode IV Comes First: It’s Just Good Parenting” 🙂
My dad got the Enterprise pizza cutter for Christmas from his brother. He is probably one of the biggest trekkies alive. He used to dress me up as Deanna Troy and take me to the conventions with him. Lol, who woulda thought a pizza cutter could bring back so many memories!
Fantastic! Great tips….I’m feeling very inspired 🙂
i personally love the r2d2 trash can from thinkgeek 🙂
also, buckyballs are amazing!
