SEATTLE EVENT: Demon Dialogues with Lucy Bellwood on October 16, 2018 #Site News#books#Seattle October 3 2018 | Ariel offbeatresilience Photo of Lucy Bellwood by Dan Hawk. As part of my Offbeat Ada's series of author events here in Seattle at Ada's Technical Books, on October 16, 2018 I'll be hosting a night with Lucy Bellwood, author of a book called 100 Demon Dialogues. The evening will feature a reading and discussion about Lucy's collection of comics about cohabiting with a petulant (if oddly lovable) Inner Critic. If you’ve ever felt like a fake or a failure, dogged by your demons and plagued by impostor syndrome, Lucy's work will absolutely make you feel less alone. If you want a great introduction her book, this Hollywood Reporter article is awesome. Offbeat Ada's events are sooo much fun for me — while I always start by asking the author questions about their work, but inevitably we end off on elaborate multi-disciplinarian tangents. Lucy and I will probably start with talk of impostor syndrome… but inevitably end up talking about creative motivations, empathy, we why we shoot ourselves in the foot so often (it hurts, and yet feels good in an oddly familiar, comforting way?), and doubtless there will be filthy jokes. Come have a beverage and go down the rabbit hole with us!
