Is there one small golden travel vibrator to rule them all?

Recently we got this email from a longtime Empire reader and friend…

I don’t know if any of you follow Michael K on dlisted (very funny, but very trashy too) but recently he was snarking on the Goop website for the $15,000 gold vibrator.

But while I was shaking my head in disbelief, I came across this: a gold USB-memory-stick tuning-fork-shaped vibrator.

Okay, at first I laughed but then my interest was piqued. It’s discreet, you can travel with it, it’s also USB charged… I mean it sounds kinda terrific!

But what I want to know is: Does it work. I get where they’re going with the tuning fork shape but sometimes theory and practice don’t meet. Has anybody tried this shape in a vibrator?

Also, 16 GB for my data? Puh-leeze I need BIGGER. 😉

Which sparked a very funny conversation about vibrator shapes, including this gem: “In terms of it actually being a tuning fork, I was giggling at the whole idea of a line of vibrators tuned to specific harmonics. ‘I NEED an A440 for maximum satisfaction, and they only carry the A441!'”

But, I’d like to even expand upon this question and ask… what do you guys do about traveling with or without vibrators? My go-to is the Magic Wand, which is NOT travel-friendly. And, since it is so damn amazing, it’s kind of ruined me for smaller vibrators. Unless there’s one small golden travel vibrator to rule them all! …No seriously, is there?

Have you tried smaller, more unique vibrators? What do you use as your travel vibrator?

  1. I am also a huge fan of the magic wand. The only thing that has even come close is a product called “The Womanizer” (I know terrible name but amazing product). It charges with a USB and even comes with a travelling case.

    • I recently bought the Womanizer Plus (Happy Birthday to me!) and I love it! Personally, I wouldn’t travel with it, but they do make a Womanizer2go, which as an added bonus, is disguised as a lipstick. I couldn’t speak to whether or not it works as well though. They are a bit pricey, but fortunately the whole rage is available through Liberator, which pretty much always has a sale on.

    • YES! It is called the Mystic Wand. I have one, its damn great for travel. It’s quieter than the Magic Wand but very close in feel (as much as it ever gets for non-corded!). I just pop out one battery for travel so it doesn’t turn on in my bag.

Oh Joy Sex Toy did cover this in a great NSFW comic about traveling and needing something like a Magic Wand. Seriosuly, check it out!!

Hey Epiphora (another damn good sex toy review site) ALSO covered it, with comparisons to the Hitachi.

Seriously, get this and never go back. It’s the golden vibrator you’ve been looking for!!!

      • Hey Epiphora is my guiding light when it comes (ey-oh) to sex toy reviews. I trust her word on everything.

It’s worth noting that there is now a rechargeable version of the Magic Wand. That makes it a little bit less of a burden, though still a suitcase hog.

      • Vibratex also has a smaller version of the Mystic Wand called the Mini Magic Wand that is really sensational (and pretty!). There’s no “golden vibrator” really because everyone has different preferences and taste in toys. I like more power than my gf, but less power than some other people, for example. And some folks like really precise pin-point vibration and some like broader, some like sensation in a different spot on their body than others, some female-bodied people have larger or smaller clits which might make a difference, etc etc. *shrug*

Also my fave sex toy reviewer (if we’re sharing) is http://dangerouslilly.com/ 😀

  2. The form 2 is my absolute favorite and it travels very easy. It is water proof and rechargeable (charge last up to two weeks) it is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and it has a lock sequence so it won’t accidentally start vibrating in your bag. It has four intensity levels and 5 vibration patterns so it’s easy to find one that works for you

  3. I’ve got a nice little thing called Amorino by Fun Factory. It’s a smallish rabbit with a rubber band (that you can use or not) that mimics the fork effect. It’s submersible and usb rechargeable, the battery lasts for a long time. It also has different patterns and intensity levels (the less strong are enough for me). It’s the only one I’ve ever had or used so i can’t compare, but I’d recommend it.

  4. There’s a scene in “Sex and the City” where Samantha is standing in a high-end gadget store ( like Hammacher Schlemmer ), holding court over the vibrator section. “That will burn your clit right off”, is her judgement for some model that’s off camera.
In my mind, that off-camera vibrator was the Magic Wand because that was my opinion of it from my one experience many many years ago. But lo and behold! Since then I’ve discovered that not only does everybody else love it, but it’s consider the ne plus ultra of vibrators. Now I get the sads when I see it, thinking how it doesn’t work for me. 🙁
No matter! As long as they still manufacture “rabbit” style vibrators, I’m good to go. 😉

  5. As a Sexual Wellness Coach I get asked this question all the time. People are always looking for something that fits in small spaces to be more discreet. I think the biggest key to a “travel” vibrator is how it’s powered. You do not want to be stuck in an area you don’t know and headed out late at night in search of batteries! USB charging is a must since you can easily charge it anywhere. My biggest seller has been a palm sized powerhouse called “Enchant Me”. Lots of power, compact size, USB charge, 7 functions , easy to clean silicone and it’s waterproof! If you don’t have a LOVEWINX dealer in your area you can buy them online, but you should search if there is a consultant in your area, if you host a party you get to shop for free!

  6. http://we-vibe.com/thrill I’ve purchased a lot of toys and after buying this one, it’s the only one I use (unless I forget to charge it, then I’ll use my Tryst…but incomparison, the Tryst sucks and is disappointing!) The high and ultra settings really get the job done.

  7. I have a magic wand but it’s not very travel friendly for many reasons. Most importantly is the size. But you also need a power converter if you travel to countries with different Voltage and Amps.
