Did you catch Offbeat Home & Life and How-To Hair Girl on the Today Show?

Remember Roxie Hunt’s post about arm pit-dying DIY post from last month? Well, it’s been getting some mainstream attention this week — first the LA Times, then the Today Show. Here’s Kathy Lee and Hoda Kotb being horrified by the concept, and decreeing it “freaky”…

DIY is magic: Make your own My Little Pony plushie

When I asked my brother if there was anything I could make for my niece for the holidays, I was a little overwhelmed when he suggested a My Little Pony — Friendship is Magic plushie of Pinkie Pie. I’d never sewn a stuffed animal before, and I’d be a pony newbie creating something to give to a pony expert!

The pros and cons of growing up without a television

Whenever I end up playing the “tell a surprising fact about yourself” game I have one up my sleeve that is guaranteed to shock those who don’t already know it. I grew up without a television. I don’t know quite why this is viewed as so unusual, but it always gets a reaction.

How to get the most bang for your buck with your technology

So while I’m still fairly new to anime and am definitely not an expert, I’m trying to get more well-rounded in my knowledge. Feel free to follow my breadcrumb trail, Offbeat Homies, and lose yourself to this world forever.

This Game of Thrones party snack spread should win the Iron Throne by rights

The most important thing that has every happened to me, my reason for living — Game of Thrones — is back on the air. Every Sunday I have a group of friends over to my apartment and we watch the magic and the madness unfold together. Usually I just put out some cheese and crackers, with enough wine to make Cersei proud. So imagine how huge my eyeballs got when I saw this spread show up in our Flickr pool…

I want to have an affair with these Mad Men-style time capsule homes

Homie and guest-poster Julie F sent me an email that just said “OH MY GODZZZZZ” with a link to these Mad Men-style time capsule homes. I thought I’d ignore everyone who said they hate real estate posts, and cater to my fellow real estate boner-having Homies.

How writing erotic fan fiction changed my sex life

Since the beginning of my sexual awakening (or when my high school boyfriend put his hands down my pants), I loved sex. Along with sex, my other interests are TV shows, movies, and books. There is a particular workplace sitcom that I adore and almost exclusively write for. The bridge between these interests is not a long one, and soon I was writing erotic fan fiction. And yes, after (a little) personal deliberation, I told my husband that I was a fan fiction writer. But I don’t think the switch in our sex life really happened until he read My Really Long Fic.
