Homies for the holidays: A festive peek inside your decorated pads #Decor & Decorating#Christmas#Christmas trees#decor#hanukkah#holidays December 23 | Megan Finley Horowitz meggyfin From Audrey: IronMan tree: why have a plain old lit-up Christmas tree when you can have a lit-up IronMan tree with eyes that shoot lasers? I got this email from a longtime Homie: I was searching around for something to replace a Doctor Who angel Christmas tree topper (I waited too long and they're sold out now, boo). It occurred to me that I'd LOVE to see what other Offbeat Homies have for their holiday decor. Can you do a round up post? Because apparently HGTV does not satisfy my voyeuristic inclinations enough. -Laura So I kicked it off on Offbeat Home & Life's Instagram by sharing my mom's holiday decor. (She's going for a "rustic Christmas" vibe. Which, for my mom, means burlap ribbons adorning her hanging crystal ornaments.) Then I asked all y'all to tag your holiday decor photos with #offbeathome, so that we could get a peek. And boy oh boy did that pay off. There are trees where trees shouldn't be, a terrifying wreath, and so much retro decor it'll make you flip your lids… My bf's adorkable board game Christmas tree! What a keeper. 🎄🕹🎮 A post shared by Catherine (@bijouxandbits) on Dec 13, 2015 at 8:34pm PST My mom's aforementioned "rustic crystal Christmas" decor. From Kelsey: Blue/Silver/White Snowflake Tree with an octagon tree skirt that makes my heart happy. While Darth Vader marvels at our beautiful tree. From Tess: Made use of my ornament surplus… and I only burned two fingers! From berg8070: Upsidedowner tree year 3! At this point, the angel has lost all hope. From Jack: That moment when the lunatic on "American Horror Story" turns on his Christmas tree that looks just like ours. From MorningMorgan: Holiday cognitive dissonance. From Amy: Zeus shows off Christmas. My friend Jessica and I celebrated the second night of Hanukkah together, with her gorgeous Nambe menorah. From dreasv13: Retro midcentury-inspired Christmas. From ameliajane920: Christmas at our house. From HippoandRiley: Decided to go for a Doctor Who theme this year. Tardis lights, blue star string lights, and red bows. Have you ever noticed how much red Christmas bows look like bow ties? From angiegneuron: How we do tree toppers. From SierraLeoni: Made this little guy myself. I love him so much, I might keep him up all year. Caroline's Christmas tree is in the traditional holiday colours of purple, gold, and black, and comes with a happy skeleton in a coffin. Even Mr Shark is getting festive. Thanks to everyone who shared their holiday decor with us. We love you all and wish the happiest of offbeat holidays. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through yall! 7 agree Reply This is great! 1 agrees Reply I totally heart the monster wreath!! Reply My wife and I have Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer on top of our tree. that is all, great article. 7 agree Reply I love the upside-down christmas tree!! 1 agrees Reply I love Caroline's purple tree! Actually, I love all these! 1 agrees Reply Yay thank you!! Reply my husband and I have Hillary Clinton the nutcracker figurine on top of our tree! It's a joke, but some people things it sacrilegious. So funny, though. If only we also had the Bill Clinton wine bottle opener to match. 2 agree Reply I loved this post – that ornament wreath is gorgeous! 1 agrees Reply I can't express how much I love this showcase. GO BRONCOS!! Reply GO BRONCOS! Of course, the downside is that since my husband put that hat (mine, not his, of course) on top of the tree, I can't wear it 🙁 Reply THAT'S MY PUMPKIN! YAY! Man, the Homies really know how to rock the holidays! Reply I love the way the whole area of the Menorah photo is decorated. They have good taste. The Star Wars is a great photo too! Reply I totally meant to get pictures of our Chanukah/Yule/Christmas decorations. Yay for our Jewish/Heathen/Christian household 🙂 Reply That's my IronMan tree! Thanks and yay! Oh and that monster wreath… I'm so sad Halloween is so far in time because I just want to start making it NOW. Reply I saved so many of these that I think there are enough Christmas decorating ideas for the next 10 years. The wreath that looks like a monster and the skeleton will suite my brother's taste because he's more of a Halloween fan, but if I can decorate the Christmas tree with things that he likes, he'll be happy.
