Use your aprons to hide ugly old kitchen phone jacks

Vintage apron collectionThis photo might just look like Homie StellarP‘s adorable vintage apron collection, and it is! But it’s also a super clever way of covering up an unsightly, and unused, phone jack in the kitchen.

I bet y’all have all sorts of clever ideas for hiding those (now archaic?) kitchen phone jacks. My favorite solution is to find a vintage wall-mounted phone and, working or not, it looks pretty rad. What have YOU come up with?

  1. I do this! Although my apron collection verges on kitschy rather than vintage, including several I made in high school home ec. Then I got a really pretty metal hook mounted in that place. It really looks great in my kitchen!

  2. I don’t have a wall jack, but i do have a horrible metal fuse box. I use a magnet to hold a calendar over it (and, the fact that it is metal, means the magnet has something to stick to!)

I just bought my first apron ever (i am over 40) this week though! Now it needs a hook. 🙂

    • Yes! In my last apartment, I hung a gorgeous scarf over the space that had the fuse box so that I wouldn’t have to look at it. I knew where it was, and even in the dark it wouldn’t have been difficult to find if I blew a fuse (tiny apartment), so the aesthetic benefits were well worth it!

  3. Since my apartment building’s fire extinguisher is right outside my kitchen door – ten steps away – the ugly metal bracket for holding a kitchen fire extinguisher instead holds my aprons.
