Make a fruity ice punch ring at your holiday party

Guest post by Ange

This makes a great addition to the punch bowl for your next gathering and won’t melt as fast as a bag of ice cubes meaning your favourite drink will still pack a… punch!

To make this holiday punch ice ring you will need:

How to make the ice ring:

  1. Pour a 2cm layer of water into the ice ring mold and arrange the fruit and mint leaves, they’ll float to the top but don’t worry about that.
  2. Place into the freezer making sure the mold is level and freeze until solid (about 2-4 hours)
  3. Once frozen remove the mold from the freezer and top up with water. Return to the freezer until frozen.

Simple Punch Recipe:

  • 1 Litre of tea (I like lemon and ginger tea)
  • 1 Litre of tropical fruit juice
  • 1 Litre of lemonade
  • 1 Litre of soda water
  • 1 Litre alcohol (such as rum, vodka or bubbly), optional
  • Juice of two limes

  1. I make these for party’s sometimes. If you don’t have an ice ring mold you can take any sort of freezer safe container to make it. (I usually use some take-out soup containers, or generic tupperware.) Put fruit slices in it, I like to stand them up around the edge, freeze an inch of water so they stay standing up, then top them off and freeze again.
I’ve also frozen a few big blocks without fruit when we have an ice bucket out for drinks at a party. Put 1 or 2 bigger blocks of ice in the bottom of the ice bucket, they’ll help chill the bucket, and by the time people dig down to them they’ve melted to average size ice cubes.
