How should we decorate these very tall walls?

The husband and I just bought a big house in semi-suburbs. It’s pretty bland right now (beige walls + beige tile floors = snooze) and while we’ve got plenty of ideas for making it the colorful, funky home that we want, I’m at a loss for what to do with the immense two story walls in the living room.

We’ll definitely paint them, but then what? I feel like they are calling out for something special. Anyone have any awesome decorating ideas for very tall walls?

Monday Moment: kitchen cabinet organization nerdy treasure hunt-style

I LOVE seeing a fresh moments in our Flickr pool! This one was great because last week I showed you how moments can look awesome when they’re scattered, and now we can celebrate one that’s been all proudly organized… with a nerdy treasure hunt to boot!

1-up your living space with pixelated home decor

What do sharks, trash cans, coffee tables, and flowers have in common? They all look AWESOME pixelated… and in your home. If you love 8bit art as much as this Homie, then you’ll LOVE some of these pixelated home decor items.

Monday Moment: 1 weird couch, 1 bright wall, and 11 pillows

Moments can be awesome, even if they’re casually arranged! This one from frequent Home Flickr Pool contributor, Mareike Scharmer looks scattered, but it sure as hell looks awesome. One chair + 11 pillows + a crazy-ass accent wall = I LOVE THIS SHIT!

Check out this sweet vintage black-and-white cartoon nursery

Even though we painted vintage cartoon murals on the walls we didn’t want our daughter’s nursery to be “themey.” Think “scene” over “theme” — our daughter’s room is like a booklover’s/modern DIYer’s explosion of fuchsia, turquoise, and orange in a black-and-white cartoon scene (with some retro toys thrown in there for good measure).

My favorite color is this combination of colors

Over the past year, I’ve favorited a lot of photos containing this color combination. Some of them are of actual interiors, or homes, or at least buildings, but some of them are of waterfalls over tunnels in sides of mountains in China.

So short of having straight up torches on the walls or just living on a window-washer platform outside my apartment, forever looking in at dusk, how do I replicate that kind of light?

Monday Moment: Minimalist, electric blue, Buddhist dining space

Does your rug match your artwork? Thinking of bringing a bit of Buddhism into your decor? This moment will make you think about doing BOTH those things.

Monday Moment: a small balcony FULL of color

>I am not mad at how much color Offbeat Homie Kristin squeezed into her small balcony. And it was all achieved with a rainbow of planters and paper lantern string lights!
