My dream house: a retro waterfront condo in Seattle

The good news is, I found my PERFECT home in Seattle! It’s a waterfront condo right on the Puget Sound with views to die for and some nifty retro touches. The bad news is, once again, it’s a total pipe dream, costing $440,000. But it’s fun to have dreams, right?

Wanna take a virtual tour of my imaginary Seattle home?

Leo D’s renting out his beach house this summer so I need 300 of you to give me $500 each

I was recently told that Leonardo DiCaprio is renting his Malibu beach house this summer for a cool $150,000 a month. Reality aside (because seriously: 150k! A month!), I immediately started thinking of all the things I would do in said beach house.

The House of Yes: almost nothing cost more than $150

A couple years ago, I had to disassemble my adorable apartment, passing along my furniture to my students and packing everything else into my car. But before I began the process of getting rid of my worldly possessions, I thought my little flat deserved a bit of a photo shoot.

98% of what you see here is second hand. And with the exception of electronics, nothing cost more than $150!

Bex and Paul’s cozy boat moored in the countryside

I’d never stayed over night on a boat before I bought one to live on. I’d lived in a caravan and a garage for a bit so I thought that was enough — and I was right. This is our home: a narrowboat on England’s canals.

Arizona’s 3-bedroom pyramid house in the desert

What’s with all these people who are so into pyramids they built them for themselves? Another pyramid has popped up on the market: this one’s in the desert of Arizona.

Paul’s red bus in New Zealand

Our friend Paul recently finished his bus renovation — turning a former school bus into a little one-man-one-dog wintertime road house. Come see his rig, his dog, and the cozy wood stove in his simply-made tiny home.

A fully-pimped Star Wars room in a penthouse

Curbed ran a little highlight of an almost-$6-million-dollar apartment in Manhattan with three bedrooms — one of which is a fully pimped ode to Star Wars. This thing comes complete with full wall-and-ceiling starscapes, a large model of the Millenium Falcon, and shockingly-cute accessories that make the whole place look chic, not at all weird.

Our lovely decade-spanning “Little Big House”

Beretta Fleur is finally showing us the space where she hosts ALL her perfectly-hosted parties. And it’s wood-paneled and has built-in rock hot tubs and a lovely bar and let’s all go to there for a party!
